Aw. Yes. One of the most popular questions asked. Life must always have balance. We can't have good days without having bad days. We can't have sunny days without having rainy days. Most people view a sunny day as being good and rainy days being bad. What if it the sun were to shine constantly and we never had any rain? Some states like Nevada and Arizona are experiencing this now. You would have a drought. What if we were to have rainy days and no sunny days? The land would be flooded. Life must always have balance. It is sad that innocent people have to die but such as life. God gives everyone free will. Some choose to do good while others choose to do evil. Then there is always the question of sickeness. Think for a moment if everyone lived forever. How long would it be before the world became overpopulated? Think if you will. Every day of every year, we would have new children being born. Our population would be growing but the earth isn't. There is no land springing from the earth. So it would only be a matter of time before our supply of jobs, housing, food and water would be depleted. What would the world be like with billions upon billions of people fighting for food and water. Whether we want to admit it or not, death is a means of population control. Peace and God bless.

I don't understand why we find it so unbelievable that "innocent people" die in sometimes horrible ways. Why does dying in a horrible way seem like a type of punishment? How do you know what happens to those people after they pass over? Maybe dying a horrible death, means you get some kind of reward in the after-life. I'm not saying I believe that, but who are you to judge things you couldn't possibly know? You are not God.

Why did God die such a horrible death.
We all have to pay for our sins and the sins of mankind, in some way. Living on this earth without any retribution would be like robbing a bank or killing someone without any consequences.
We are not perfect and we each have our crosses to bear. Some may have even been angels before they left this earth. and then was given eternal life.

Jesus was innocent and he died a horrible death too! The bible refers to him as the man of sorrows. He warned that evil things would happen in this world. Why do so many people blame him? Its sad....... But wouldnt it be even hearder to accept that and innocent life was taken and there was no heaven to go to?
Thank God for the blood of the lamb!

Then one must ask why do really horrible people live really great, long lives? Good AND Evil. For the good ruler there is an evil one. God and Satan, both very powerful beings.

St. Anselm addressed this question, the so called "ontological proof of God".
Basically, if God were obvious and all was hunky dory here on Earth, there would be no need for faith. Choosing to have faith is apparently the purpose of our lives, like some kind of test.
Also, read the story of Job which tackled this question.

first, how do you know they are innocent...but really...this is a topic alot of people talk about but i think few listen and understand...God is in "control", he does not "control". God asks for you to have faith in him and spread his name, he does not move us about like chess pieces. You have the freedom to choose and live. How you choose and live determines your after life, with God, not your secular life. If you choose to have faith and spread his word he may have extra purpose for you and may "spare" you an untimely death but he does not punish someone with a terrible death. Also, you have to remember, God is always waiting and open for people to come to him. Think about it, when do people cry out for God the most....in a crisis situation.... right? well, the purpose of the persons death may be to bring you to God. If you believe, then your death, will bring you enternal life with God, so if the death brings someone else to him why would he prevent the death? If you believe, death, will be better then life. So, dont hate or blame God for mass distruction that occurrs and takes lives look at the lives it brings to God. remember, professing your believe in God, asking him for forgivness and doing as best you can to live a life Gods way is not asking to much for enternal life.....

Genesis 1:26 (NIV)
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, [a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
Man has free will. We often choose to do silly things that cause people to die.
