That's just their way of saying that it doesn't matter to them either way. Either is fine, so they just say "yes".
Or they could just be joking around... Usually it's the former, though.

You could try asking a set of yes or no questions.
"Should I paint my house blue?"
And let them answer that, and then ask.
"What about green?"
I really don't like it when people throw several choices at me to the point where I don't remember the first choice, or I can't tell where one choice begins and one choice ends. The more choices the worse it gets, if you had red in there for example, it becomes (imagine me pretending to sound like you when I do this) "Should I paint my house red blue or green?" Then people may think "red blue".

I think those people either didn't pay attention to what you said or are just dumb and don't get it that it's not a yes/no question.
It happens to me quite often that people answer such questions with yes or no,and it's very annoying. Makes me wonder if they listen to me at all.

It's their way of snagging 2 points without putting in any effort. Pathetic, huh? They probably think they're being really funny.
Oh yes, and go with the blue! :-)

Either they aren't listening to you or they are stupid. They could be half asleep too. But mostly it's because they would rather be doing something else. Ignore these people.
I like the guy who wrote "Yes". Good answer!

It is a non-committal answer, in other words they probably do not care what you do and do not want to give an answer.
