faith without works, is dead
it is the faith that makes the works possible.
and do not misunderstand. The gift of life is free. So the works are not earning life. They are the way of showing that the faith does have depth.

If you go by the traditional Christian god, you don't even need that much.
Per some Christians, God is loving. As such, he would not want you to go to Hell. He would do everything in his power to grant you access to Heaven.
Also, per some Christians (many being the same as the first group), God is omnipotent. As such, he has the power to keep you from Hell.
Since God would not want you to go to Hell and is able to keep you out of Hell, then you cannot go to Hell. Usually, the claim is that there is only Heaven and Hell after death (some claim Purgatory). If you cannot go to Hell, then you can only go to Heaven when you die.
So, good works alone won't get you into Heaven. It doesn't matter what you do; you're guaranteed entrance by the Christian sect that believes in a loving, powerful god.
Now if God is not loving or not powerful, then you'll just have to hope for the best.

It is much deeper than that. Good deeds alone will not get you one step closer to heaven. Deeds with out Salvation, are useless and Salvation alone will not get you to heaven either. You must have Salvation, Do the works of God (good deeds). They go hand in hand, sort of like saying " If you talk the talk, then be prepared to walk the walk". Spread the Gospel and try to win all the souls you can to Christ.

Heaven is not something easily attained. Jesus' apostles were rewarded with heavenly life, but look what they went through as his followers. They were thrown in prison, beaten, and persecuted constantly thoughout their ministry. They remained faithful until death. The Bible says that "faith without works is dead." So a person must be more than just good to be rewarded life in heaven. There are many people who may lead a good and respectable life, but they do not believe in God. So not all good people go to heaven. God has promised us that a "great crowd" of Christians will be given eternal life here on earth. Jesus said that only a "little flock" of Christians would be rewarded life with him in heaven, to be a part of his heavenly government, which will rule over those on earth. Those who receive the reward in heaven will rule as "kings and priests" with Jesus. I have the hope of living here on earth in total peace and security.

Believe what you believe just make sure that you believe it 100%. Don't say that there is a god but only believe that 90%. Once you fully believe in something you develop faith. This faith will guide you and help you to do good things. I 100% believe that if you are always doing what you truly feel is the right thing and never question your beliefs than God will take care of any short comings you may have. Isn't that the whole point in believing in god? Do your best and he will do the rest.

I believe that good works is a good start but it has to be intended for the right purposes, otherwise the good works would be pointless. I say as long as your heart is ALWAYS on the right path than you cannot go wrong! Only you and God can know whether your intentions are good enough to get into heaven!

Ugghhh there is that saying," A man's good works alone will not get him into Heaven" if you believe that Heaven exists & the source that you believe it from is right then you ought to believe the other saying too I think. Or something like that. There are other sayings on this too, but don't feel like looking them up or trying to remember them right now.

Good works alone will not get you into heaven. The only way that you can get into heaven is through faith in Christ alone. The scriptures say in Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are you saved through faith, not by works lest anyone should boast, it is the gift of God.

Your good works are not what get you into heaven all. It takes a deeper commitment to the one and only. One and only meaning that He is the one and only way into heaven.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. Good works doesnt get anyone to heaven. We are all sinners and can only by saved by the grace of God. Jesus paid the price for our sins on the cross.

It is deeper...you need Jesus to take your sins away. However, it's certainly clear that saying that you believe in Jesus without taking any sort of action doesn't make a whole lot of sense. James says faith without works is dead. Jesus said not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" will enter heaven. There are many places in Scripture that say the wicked will not attain eternal life.
Believing in Jesus is what gets you to heaven. But can you really believe in Jesus while simotaneously only doing evil? James says he demonstrates his faith by his works. Faith and works go hand in hand.
