Just wondering if this is how yall feel.

Congratulations - you've matured beyond your peers.

They always told me at school - these are the best years of your life. Well, kill me now. But you know what - it was for the jocks, and the shallow cheerleaders - now they're all knocked up and pumping gas, and people like us are now policy makers and big shots.

Watch SEARCHING FOR BOBBY D when it comes out this year.

BTW - love Ju Jutsu, I'm a fifth kyu.

I applaud you for your maturity and listening to your training.

If you really want to show people you can fight without being a braggart about it, the best way would probably be to organize a demonstration - your martial arts instructors could probably help you organize a demonstration for the purpose of recruiting more students. Or maybe offer to setup and help teach a self defense class at the school. That could be both beneficial, and let the word get around that you are mature enough to know when to walk away.

It's very admirable that you don't fight and it's very smart. I've actually been told by an AP (Assistant Principal) that people that are in martial arts will get into more trouble than those who aren't because we know how to keep a fight from happening and, how to use self-defense instead of offensive moves. That was told to me after a girl tried messing with me in middle school but, I didn't do anything and I refuse to do anything. Martial Arts makes us a lot more calm and disciplined than a lot of our peers, especially in middle school and high school when people want to mess with us for it. Stick to your morals and listen to your sensei. The only person looking stupid is that person for trying to provoke you.

That is very impressive. big respect to you. However if it get to point where it is start to going on all of the time, bring gloves and have a friendly spar. From my experience, if you're friendly and nice and give some advice and not being cocky after you kick guys' ***, you will make more friends. Or you can ask them to grapple and let them see if they think they can beat you. It's not a crime to invite them for some friendly controlled spar/grappling and it may will be better for every body.

However if someone try to pick a fight for real, do something like sweep them down and put lock on them and tell them next time you will literally break their bone. From my experience, most people wouldn't want to try anything after seeing what you're capable of.

I liked the other suggestion. Laugh in their face when they want to fight you.

Tell them "You effin moron. You think when you fight me, I'm going to throw a punch here and there just like it was some kind of schoolyard fight."

Explain the methods of ju jitsu and Muy Thai and watch him open his mouth wide.

If they're stupid and they still want to fight you, go ahead and let them throw the first punch.

If he's smart, he'll rethink fighting you, knowing when you go out to fight, you're not going to throw a simple punch to the face or a haymaker, but you're going to kick, elbow, knee, choke and use submission holds and make him your *****.

Sometimes, you can't avoid fighting at all costs. If you were to fight him, let him throw the first punch and get lots of eyewitnesses.

Then put him in an armbar or thai kick his shins and make an example out of that trash talker, so nobody will ever start anything with you.

Just because you know karate, or any other form of combat, does not mean you need to be a punk.

As long as you're "the karate kid" at school, someone is going to want to prove that they can beat you. You are a better person for not giving them any response.

Everytime I got in a fight at school I had to go tell my sensei. It made me feel so bad that I never fought. The first thing they taught us was don't fight. Don't fight, but if you have to, here's how you keep yourself safe.

Some kids may never understand that first lesson. You do. You're a step ahead!

I think you handle it the way it is supposed to be handled. I have no respect for people that learn how to fight just so they have an advantage over others. They are called martial ARTS...they have always been considered an art, a thing of beauty. Just ignore what everyone else says to you, you have the true concept.

That's what you're supposed to do. Martial arts should only be used when it's absolutely necessary. I'm sure people just pick on you to see what you got. People want to show that they can beat up a guy that does martial arts. Just let them think that. If they throw the first punch, take em out!!

Hey! Good for you! If you let stupid people make you mad. You'll be mad all the time.

I'm a weight lifter and I get stuff all the time. I'm not a body builder, I'm just real big and real strong. 245lbs with 18" arms and a 50" chest.

Just remember that people feel inferior to guys who have a definate advantage, like we do. Don't let them get to you. Your doing the right thing, and there's no need to make an example of a fool.

I'm delighted to find that there are some sensible people here. A lot of the people in this section have the wrong attitude and think fight first.

It's hard to walk away and be called a coward because you know you can beat them. It takes a real (wo)man to do that.
