First: Where does the Bible say not to go door to door?

Second: The only way any faith really grows is by those who spread the word - IE, Missionaries. Catholicism did the same thing in the 15th - 19th centuries - why do you think so many of the islands in the South Pacific, plus most of Central and South America are predominantly Catholic?

I'm not particularly fond of the Morman faith, and I immediately turn them away when they come to my door, but it is pretty much an accepted norm within most of Christianity to do missionary work like this - the Mormon's are just better organized at it than most, which is why they are one of the fastest growing churches in the world.

I am not a Mormon and no, they do not go door to door for money. They feel this is a good way to leave a witness to people as to their beliefs. I have been aggravated with them from time to time but I think they believe that they are doing a good work. I don't think the Bible tells us not to go door to door but I know that it does compel us to go to the highways and bi-ways and compel people to come. The only money that I have ever seen them ask about is a free will donation to help cover the cost of the tracts that they give out. I rather admire them for their desire to do a good work.

i've never heard of the missionaries going door to door of non-mormons, but they will preach if they meet someone in a store or something... it depends what bible you're talking about. there are different bibles. mormons use the king james bible. how could they be money hungry? they don't get paid for it!

Money hungry? What does this have to do with money? They're not asking for any money. I've never in my life experienced any of them asking for money.
Where in the Bible does it say NOT to go door to door? In 2nd Timothy 4:2, it says to "preach the word; be instant in season, out of season..." Also, right after the Beatitudes, Matt. 5:12-16 says, "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven"...and "Ye are the salt of the earth..."...."Ye are the light of the world.." ...and "Let your light so shine before men, that they see your good works...". These passages convey the need to prophesize to the world. They believe that it is their responsibility to preach their gospel to the world, regardless of your religious beliefs.

Their young men are required to go door to door for their two year mission experience. I've asked them in before and they are nice kids, just doing their deal.

As for being money hungry, the Mormon church is the wealthiest church (per capita) in the world. I've never been asked for a donation by a Mormon.

Are you sure you are not referring to another group?

Where does the Bible say not to go door to door? Mormons simply believe in their faith and want to share it with people.

They don't really believe the Bible...they only read a few chapters, and dump the rest for Joseph Smith's book...forget what its called, but apparently it was given to him by a white lizard...
I guess a mormon should answer htis question, cause I'm a little skeptical. Ever read "A Gathering of the Saints"? That will answer LOTS of questions, good book!

I would be interested in learning where in the Bible it forbids going door to door. In my Bible Jesus commands us to go and spread the Good News. It is called the Great Commission.

Actually. It is more the Jehovahs Witnesses that go from door to door. Mormons tend to find and check on their own fellows.
