I imagine that it wouldn't be difficult to catch on fire with all of the cigarettes people go through, and it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm just trying to be a model citizen.

Sounds great to me, especially if it's a good looking member of the opposite sex. Might be safer than taking your chance on getting mouth to mouth from a lifeguard whose sex and looks you won't be sure of. At least this way, you only have to tackle the hott ones!

Move to California!
You can hardly smoke anywhere, you even need to stand about 20 feet from the entrance of public buildings to smoke.
Doesn't always work as many smoker's have become rude these days and can't (or won't) control their habits. In this case I would love to see them tackled so I can go out in front of the building I work at downtown to get some fresh air... without some nasty cigarreate smoke invading the entry way.

A very funny idea. I say go for it and be sure to get it on video! That would be perfect for America's Funniest Video. On the other hand, it could get you beat up...
There was a sign hanging in our fire station meeting room that said "If we see you smoking, we will assume you are on fire and take appropriate action." It happened once or twice.

If you did that to me, I'd grab the beer out of your hand and splash it on you to douse the flames that I thought had set your shirt on fire, only to find out it was just a really ugly Hawaiian print shirt.

I agree i'm sure that the person smoking would not be happy but go for it. Making a scene like that would be very entertaining and i think it would make people think. LOL

That's a good one. I hadn't thought of that. Just heard on the news that the Marriott hotels are going smokeless! Kudos to them!

If you see someone smoking you should grab the cigarette and put it out on their blackberry or cell phone or shoes. they need to be taught an important lesson.
