Because, the law is applied differently to different people. If you are rich and kill someone, but the glove doesn't fit you are acquitted. If you are in government - you soil the dress, yet your enabling, record hiding, future trading wife is still thought of for President. If you are convicted of child molestation, but are a pretty blond - you get probation with no jail time. If you cross the border you are not illegal, just impoverished.
What is the law? Who does it apply to? What is the rule to follow? It is illegal to hunt whales in Ohio on Sunday. So what! Where are there whales in Ohio at all? It is illegal to practice oral sex in places where oral sex is illegal: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia and Washington D.C.
Thank God it is illegal to practice oral sex in Washington D.C.! That way we won't have any politicians doing... well, I guess the law ain't all that it is cracked up to be.
How do we tell?

what an irresponsible question. First of all in regards to ROSCO"S comment above. Yeh if it wasn't for people like us you wouldn't have a job. Futhermore Has anyone heard this saying"DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO"? Well thats why people are not upstanding citizens. People can barley make enough money to support their families. For gods sakes no one can even sit down and have dinners together as family. The reason why people can not bring their families up correctly is because they are to busy working. By the time the weekend comes we have to pay bills which doesn't allow any of us to go on vacations. So naturally we stay home, thus we don't dare to go anywhere cause all the police are to busy trying to bust anyone walking down the street. So if you wonder why thats the reason. Geme and break. Now you can see why people cant handle 1000 new laws a year. I mean I feel a little out numbered and overwehlmed at all these politicians. I mean there's so much controversy over everyone going to war. What about what we are doing to the planet and people? This isn't living ....And its certainly not peace, We are all going to die sooner or later. But we spend our whole lifes paying to die and abide by laws other people make up, which we need, but god so many to where we can't enjoy a good old fashion holiday weekend? Nice hot summer nights, midnight walks in the park? These laws are put in place just to make money. Anything that sounds so far out is the law. Anything that sounds right is wrong. What happen to the customer is always right or when someone said their sorry and meant it days? Or when someone did someone did something for nothing? We need to get our constitution back and look at United we stand....divided we fall.

actually it's funny what happens when an officer walks in. Yesterday in a retail store a sheriff's deputy walked in - same as anyone else as a customer. A few minutes later another customer comes to the front, offended, saying he wasn't ever coming back in there because he felt uncomfortable because we were watching him like a hawk and we called the cops on him. LOL I told him we did NOT call the cops on him (no need to) and actually there's several officers in different departments that shop there. Fact is NO ONE was "watching him" and the officer was in there solely to check prices on some things. Now - if you're innocently in a store shopping and have never done anything wrong in the store....why get all bent out of shape for something so minor. If he comes back in you can bet we WILL be watching closer. No one is THAT nervous without a reason.

I'm not an expert in human psychology, but I think that some people consider themselves separate from society so they don't think that rules/laws apply to them. Another reason might be that some people don't have the cognitive ability to understand the concept of law and how it maintains order (did I just use Law and Order in a sentence...oops)in our communities. If you look at small children, psychologically they are all, at times, sociopaths. Some people never mature beyond that level of development. Thanks for such a thought provoking question.

i'd consider the certainty if it might want to be amended to study: i do no longer believe in arbitrary rights and wrongs. All ethics and morals are relative and situational. some thing it fairly is ideal for me might want to be incorrect for you. some thing it fairly is ideal for me now might want to no longer be actual for me 20 years from now. i'm no longer a christian, however the Jesus that christians worship advised his followers they were loose from each and every of the old testomony regulation. He had fulfilled it for them. the purely regulation christians are problem to is the regulation of love, which does no longer come out a similar in each and every challenge. often times we ought to ask what's the most loving aspect to do in each and every challenge. what's going to do the most sturdy to at least one party and the least harm to the different party or ought to each and every bear a number of the harm?

we need to get back to the basics people, you do the crime, then you do the time. that's it! We need to kick some lawyer butt out there, so that people will fear Lady Justice, cuz man, nobody cares about the victims anymore.
Them bandits are gonna push it till they see they can get away with it. We need some good citizens out there. I tell you shock therapy works! If you hang a dozen crack heads up in a public place, and make them examples, the other guys are going to think twice about doing the same thing... They can get away with it, so they do it over, and over agian! We need a reform, people!
BTW Love, your avatar!

For the most part, I agree. However, some laws are stupid or repressive and need to be violated, so that attention can be drawn to them, and they can be changed or repealed.
Also, the justice system is seriously skewed away from our Founding Fathers ideal when it comes to traffic violations - there you are typically considered guilty and have to prove your innocence.

if this was really the yahoo police i would say it was because this is for opinions and expressing yourself.....in the real world it's because most policemen act confrontational. like they're expecting a fight. when someone is expecting a fight they usually get one! i drive a truck, so i get stopped sometimes just because they can.(TRUE!) they always expect some big ol' hairy outlaw, what they get is a little granny. i just treat them like i would my grand kids and we get along just fine!
