salvia hispanica is very edible and ok for pussers and people.
It's kind of funny though.

Cats eat grass as you probably know, also you can buy grass kits made for cats ( I am not talking about marijuana). My point being that cats and dogs eat grass and other greens, so I wouldn't worry to much if it does eat the greenery from the Chia things.. you know clay figurine, thingy. You could always check and see if the plant growing is dangerous to the cat.. as I know some house plants are.. hope this helps.. as it is a pretty good question.
