because theyre having a hard time believing it too, so the more people they try and convince the more they start believing the novel/bible themselves.

Some Christians are very pushy, and they mean well, but unfortunately, some of them won't leave a person alone if they've been asked to. "Witnessing" is God's will for a Christian, but being intrusive and impolite and rude is not God's will for a Christian -- EVER. I am sorry you have had to go through that.
Just as unfortunate is that some Christians believe that for every person they "witness" to, they will receive a "jewel in their crown" when they get to heaven. This is not supported by the Bible, though.
I am a Christian and have been taught to witness, but I choose to teach people about God by trying to live like God would want me to and not running around the neighborhood screaming about the end of the world and all the sinners about to be burned. Sometimes I feel guilty for not being more outspoken, but I have had Christians treat me the way they have treated you, and I didn't like it any more than you do.
And yes, some Christians are self-righteous and think they are morally and spiritually superior to others, and it comes across in their behavior. Rest assured, though, that self-righteous Christians are actually sinners, and if there is a hell, that is the "special prize" they will get.
If another Christian bothers you, show them this answer, but do it kindly to set an example of good behavior for all people, not just Christians.

I don't think Christians try to make atheist do anything. I think that Christians job is to let a person know that they are there for them if they need them but it is up to every indiviual if the follow the Lord or not. As for some kind of prize I think helping a lost soul to turn to the Lord is the biggest Prize of all. No I don't think that is egoism at all.

Some Christians in an atheists life might love the atheists and want a better future for the atheist and feel highly responsible for their eternity. God does reward followers for activities that bring glory to him, and some Christians feel highly responsible for converting others.
However, scripture says that God (not People) calls us to know him, and that the Holy Spirit works in a person to understand truth. So the role of the Chrisitan is not the same as God or the Holy Spirit. Our role is to live our lives in such a way that it is evidence of God's power and existence. Lots of Christians don't want to do this, they would rather talk alot about their faith rather than live transparently so others will curious to know more, and ultimately see God's power.
For atheists in my life, I try to enjoy their company, and if the atheists asks me about my faith I share it with them, but I don't push the issue. Mainly I don't push the issue because I am waiting to see if God is working on them, or if he has "given them over" to their beliefs.
When Chrisitans try to do the work of God and the Holy Spirit it could be considered egoism, which Christian call works-based religion, or legalism, or serving out of self-sufficiency. Any of these prevent the Chrisitian from fully enjoying God's enabeling, and bearing fruit (saved souls) in their life.
Just remember the Christians are humans trying to grasp and live out spiritual concepts and most of us aren't very good at it.

Some are a bit overzealous but we are commanded to preach the good news of Jesus to everyone we meet. We are not supposed to bully people or harass them if they refuse to hear it. Instead we are to let them make their own decision. Christians are still people and make the same mistakes as others - sometimes that means not knowing when to thank someone for listening, wish them a nice day, and move on down the road.
I believe we are to receive crowns for this but we will return all of our crowns to God for His glory so the only thing we truly get it seeing more smiling faces in Heaven - which should be reward enough.

I don't know if it's special but it is a prize. It's a free baked sandwich from Boston Carvers, Mmmmm! It's deviled ham on white bread and they are blasphemously delicious. God doesn't mind I'm sure, as far as egotism goes what is gained by one is lost by another so it works out. For every non believer who influences a believer there is a believer who brings in a lost soul, I think they get a box of donuts for that but I'm not sure. I guess it depends on availability Myself I just enjoy everyone indulging in delicious baked goods because I'm a Piegan.

We're trying to give YOU that so called 'special prize', eternal life and a relationship with God. We do this because God has called us to love one another, and we if we love you we won't let you make the wrong choice and condemn yourself.
Do you understand? There is nothing in this for us. Do you think we LIKE being ridiculed and treated like idiots by you?

It's like a video game. The more people they convert, the more points they get. If you get over 100 people to start believing, you get a free puppy when you get into heaven!! More than 1000 people, and you get into the upper levels of heaven where you get to play an atheist and try to escape Christians who are trying to convert you. It's all the book of god, Bible Two, Jesus's Revenge!! Christians are freaks.

Christians are commissioned by God to be a witness to people by going out "into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in." It's not about popularity or prizes,it's about doing the work of God. There are rewards for service that the Bible calls "crowns", but it still doesn't matter how many you witness to, it's how many respond to a properly administered witness!

No, you see we, as believers, are called to spread the Good News of Jesus's redemptive powers. We're just doing our job. The "special prize" is won by those who accept Him. We just tell it like it is and it's up to the individual to do something with it. We're doing God's Will, not going against it.

i'm sorry you went by potential of one of those tricky time. At this element on your existence, what you pick maximum is aperson who emphathises with you and is actual worried for you. i'm a Christian and on your needs, the OT is particularly demanding reading. I propose you should study the recent testomony. then back, let me upload that in most circumstances human beings have a tendency to be exceptionally judgemental, regardless of their faith and that i'm which incorporates Christians in this. in case you study the NT you'll locate that Jesus spent better time in Bethany than in Bethlehem and contained in the business enterprise of people that're called socially marginalised. So why no longer attempt Christ instead of pinning your faith on human beings.
