Nothing sinful about sex within marriage. Marriage as God ordained it is one man and one woman. Simple.

God has occasionally set limits on certain actions that we make. When it's acceptable to kill (self defense, legitimate war,) and when it's not (robbery, negligence). Same with sex. It's fine when the couple are married and committed to each other, and willing to parent the children they may have. Sure, there are lots of examples in the Bible of people having sex before marriage, even of rape. The Bible teaches us from the examples of good people and of bad ones. But where does it say sex is sinful? If it were, it would be mighty rough trying to keep the earth populated.

Some of the early Pauline Christians were pretty neurotic about sex, possibly because Paul was a repressed gay man.

Jesus also said a couple of things about it being good to castrate yourself.

Well, Christians took that silliness and ran with it, and suddenly sex became evil in their eyes. It doesn't help that the Puritans were just as bad, and their culture had such an influence on America.

That's why the 60s were so nice. The sexual revolution liberated a lot of people from pointless old traditions, many of which were rooted in treating women as property.

Yep, good ol' chauvinism. Virginity was valued back then because men wanted to make sure they passed on their life (which was believed to travel on when they had kids), and the best way to ensure that was to buy a virgin from someone. Of course, a woman had to be a virgin or else she might have someone else's child instead, and then someone else gets his soul passed on instead of our example guy. As a result, women had to be on a bit of a controlled market, and they turned into men's property for creating offspring.

And, of course, much of the results of this, if not the theory, dripped down into modern Christianity.

Sex is sacred inside of marriage. Premarital sex is a mortal sin. The commandment, "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife" and "thou shalt not commit adultery" both instruct to never have relations with anyone that you are not married to.

Sex itself is not a sin. What makes it a sin in the Bible is when it is abused (the two are not married, it's not with the opposite sex and it's with animals.and children). Sex was intended for population purposes in the Bible. Remember, God told Adam and Eve: "Be fruitful and become many"

Sex between a husband and a wife isn't sin. It's beautiful.

Have you read the whole Bible?

that's the thing sex isn't sin and man has followed those traditions for years for no reason. Whether you are sexual or not does not have anything to do with holiness and that is where the confusion comes from. Sex is good, clean and healthy.

It's only sinful BEFORE marriage. So the Bible says.

I am told that sex is not sinful if a priest says the right words before you beget it and the lights are off.
