These are 2 famous quotes made by John Wayne from movies he was in. What do you think about them??

"All battles are fought by scared men who would have rather have been somewhere else."

"This kind of war, you've gotta believe in what you're fighting for."

i think they are both 100% correct, any soldier who goes into battle and says he's not scared is a liar, but courage is not the absence of fear, but doing what needs to be done IN SPITE OF fear. and a soldier who doesn't believe in what he's fighting for doesn't fight very hard (however most soldiers are fighting for more than what the media tells the country this war is about, which is why soldiers are so upset at the media and it's negative spin on everything).

I dont know many who really want to be in the middle of a fight but while they are there they do believe in what they are fighting for. Both qoutes are true and this is coming from a ex Air Force wife. I have seen many men and women come home they believe in what they do but are glad to be home

hmmm... blah.

Some battles are fought by men who want to do what they can to make the world a better place.
Some are fought by those who believe that by fighting for what is right, we can try to bring peace- by doing away with corruption and tyranny.

Sometimes believing what you're fighting for helps... :)

it is the particular Amphibious Recon Corpsman (SARC), no longer Amphibious Recon Corpsman - and the motto is easy. The 'no longer attainable' will develop into attainable once you've an appointment. each and every thing else is solved without question. 'Nuff suggested.

poetically true. Anyone fighting the battles wouldn't think of something so quoteable at the time.

Both true

combat forges a bond between soldiers that is even stronger than the bond between them and their families.

My favorite: "No poor bastard ever won a war....by dying for his country. You win it (war) by making the OTHER poor bastard die for HIS country".
