First one was "The Warlock of Firetop mountain" by Steve Jackson.
Just look for "Fighting Fantasy" books.

Yes - there are a number of them, published by Scholastic. They are called "choose your own adventure" novels. Try eBay.

goosebumps...i dont know if they sell them anymore but you can find them at a book resale store (depends on how young the kid)
