Being a gay boy, I have to say the most fun part of being on the gay side of the gay marriage movement, is knowing that in a few years - I win.
I'm willing to settle for civil unions (as I would guess most other gay men would be ammenable to), but it seems those most adamant about opposing gay marriage, won't settle for civil unions.
So, we'll continue to push until we have gay marriage or civil unions one. And the most fun about the whole thing, is knowing that in 10 years, I will be on the winning side.
What do you think is the most fun part for you of being on the gay side of the gay marriage movement?

I don't want to force a church to marry me, a justice of the peace can do that or a ship captain once it's legal. But, honestly - I don't want to get married. I just want to get equal rights for those discriminated against. And, this post is just to have a little fun with the fundies.

Hey, Ann. Lovely musings! I hope you are able to marry that flower some day, honey. Marry a fruit to while you're at it, maybe a cranberry, apple, whatever suits your fancy, hon. Oh, and is your last name Coulter?

Hey Doc, what's up? I imagine your parents were on the "other" side of the civil rights movement - or maybe you were! Regardless, bigoted you will be!

The funnest part is watching people "parrot" the things they hear their parents/preachers/various other hate mongers say about it.... then telling them exactly where they are wrong.
Resurrectionist: The only way I'll stop with civil unions is if the government ONLY recognizes civil unions and leaves marriages to churches to decide.
No gay person wants to force churches that don't believe in it to be part of it.
Bill P: We all have brothers and sisters who will continue to have children. There are too few of us to really have a serious effect of the population.
Nikki: The constitution does not state that marriage is between a man and a woman. The word marriage isn't in the constitution at all. Try to pay attention in school... it helps when trying to have an intelligent conversation. Lucky for you nobody is trying to ban stupidity.
Randolph: Do you want to marry your family members? It's illegal for family members to get married because inbreeding causes MANY birth defects. Being gay isn't illegal. Gays getting married isn't, hasn't been, and won't ever be illegal. The current controversey isn't about "allowing" gay marriage, it's about treating it equal under the law compared to straight marriage.
Ambassador: God's word isn't too keen on equal rights for anybody. Equal rights for all people was INVENTED by our country just over 200 years ago... it's a new concept. I realize you probably haven't caught up with it yet. Since that time, our country has decided that no matter what the bible has to say about slavery, it's wrong. Our country has decided that no matter what the bible says about women's rights, here, they are equal. Our country has decided that no matter what the bible says about beating and/or killing children for misbehavior, it is wrong. Our country has decided that no matter what the bible says about divorce, it's ok here. What... just because you don't like it, we won't make another change regarding gay marriage.
ok... whatever
Ann: Good to know you have secret desires to marry animals and inanimate objects. You must be some sort of pervert!

I'm not gay, but I fully support the gay marriage movement. I believe that they have the right to live a full life in the way they see fit, marriage, children to raise, the house and picket fence and picnics on Sunday if they want. They are human beings too and should be treated with the same respect, both legally concerning the 'marriage' issue and personally because they are some really nice people. I have several gay and lesbian friends and I wouldn't take anything for their friendship! I guess the fun part of being on their side is knowing that eventually, the self-righteous, holier-than-thou christian conservatives that are pushing so hard against gay marriage will get their comeuppance!!!!! You CANNOT rule over some people's happiness!

Well, if I were gay, and I were on the gay side of the gay marriage issue, these things would be fun for me:
1. I'd say, "Marriage is an institution. And who wants to be sentenced to an institution?"
2. I'd say, "I could never belong to an institution that would accept me as a member."
3. I'd say, "I can't lose. As a man I can always marry a woman if I want to, whether or not we allow gay marriages. But if gay marriages are allowed you straight people will never in a million years take advantage of it! I win no matter what!"
4. I'd say, "Once we bring down marriage, let's see how many other traditional institutions we can corrupt!"
5. I'd say, "It is so much fun to portray myself as a victim. It gives me all kinds of leverage to demand new privileges, such as same-sex marriages. All the while I'll confuse the weak-minded by pretending I am not getting something I deserve, and they get."
6. It's fun to be a pioneer. Like Pandora, or the Marquis de Sade, or Judas Iscariot, Genghis Khan, or Maureen O'Hara, or the devil himself!

The most fun thing is that it totally makes all heterosexual marriages 100% meaningless. You know, how can anyone take the marriage between a man and a woman seriously after seeing 2 gays get married?? The whole legitimacy of marriage is that only a man and a woman can do it. Next thing you know I'll be able to marry a flower or a folding chair... or a dog and make some of those animal/human hybrids that our king is always talking about... then we'll see how "fun" your gay marriage is.

Youre just looking for an argument, post stuff like this where gay people are not in the Religious section. Then your next post will be about why do christains rant and rave against gay people. Here's my question, why do Gay people need so much attention. If america ignored the majority of you and treated you like you didn't exist, well some of the older ones would be fine but most of you would hate. You love the abuse and the bashing, if you get married then cousins and brothers and sisters alike should be allowed the same rights. Just becasue you think it's immoral for bro and sis to marry shoudnlt stop them. Sound Familiar.

The most fun thing? Seeing so called Christians get so tight-*ssed about something that Christ never even mentioned! LOL Its a HOOT! Some of them almost have coronaries. And, hey, its not like I can't date at least 100 married guys anytime I want. SERIOUS. These HATE FILLED people are so intent on destroying gay lives that they push these "wimps" into the closet where they get married and ruin the lives of women and children by then continuing to have sex with men on the side. Where if they'd STOP the harrassment, these guys (and Women) wouldn't be forced to live LIES and marry with children and look for (false) love on the side. I estimate at least 2 million married gay guys MINIMUM. MINIMUM. So, is you atititude affecting the life of your sister, cousin or aunt? Do you hate us so much that you can put them at risk? Then your a sad, well, it really doesn't matter, cause your just not worth it . . .I think "WE" like to SHOCK Christians because they're so unkind, uncaring and uncouth. Not at all Christlike.

I am all for equal rights. Everyone else can shove that bib-lee where the sun don't shine and rotate.
Gays aren't asking for christian marriages, just to be acknoledged as married.
That whole BS about man and woman is pure religious nonsense spouted from the ones who are so busy preaching the "good word" that they don't hear the message.
In fact all gays: Next time you hear someone talking this nonsense, grab them, say "I am homosexual" and plant the biggest kiss you can muster on their lips, then say "and now so are you" then skip away and watch them squirm.
(In a college debate on gay rights, this was my rebuttle, that people against it are just insecure of their own sexuality, by the way after doig this, my opponent could not respond and I won the debate)

I would definitely say stop at civil unions. I know there are already churches who will marry same sex couple, and if gays start trying to "force" a church that condemns it to marry them, how are they any better than the church who condemns them? It would be fruitless anyway, since the government can't make a law to force the church to do anything. Gee, I really wish that worked the other way around.

I am not now nor have I ever been Gay, but I support the Gay rights folks. Semantics is all this arguement is about...Marriage by definition is "sanctioned by God (if there is one) and I could care less about weather a UNION of two loving people is sanctioned or not. I believe that all should have the opportunity to LOVE regardless of sexual preference and that GOVERNMENT & RELIGION should stay out of the bedroom (pedophilia, and abuses aside--those they should look at) and tend to more pressing matters. Have you as a gay person checked into being a UU...We're the uncommon denomination...please check us out at WWW.UUA.ORG. PEACE!

whoa! i'm a christian and that finished argument approximately not permitting gay marriages as a results of fact they are in a position to't reproduce is between the stupidest issues I truthfully have heard all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days LMFAO!!! to disallow gay marriages is against the completed doctrine of christianity. not as a results of fact it particularly is real, yet as a results of fact God himself helps us to do what we'd like at will. as a results of fact that gay marriages do not effect in breaking the ten commandments, enable them to marry. they are in a position to be a area of the inhabitants that adopts undesirable toddlers! and in simple terms yet another notice, those christians that sense the will of "saving different souls" are nutcases! we don't get browniepoints as quickly as we die for each soul we saved.
