Because they confuse the biblical god for the real God and become morbidly disillusioned by the lie that took them in.

The real "God" being the origin of the cosmos, of everything and everyone, who is non-judgmental and simply "is", without need of faith or adoration or fear.

First of all - I would really like to see the statistics that scientifically prove that more people are converting to atheism than Christianity.

And secondly - if you truly are an educated person making completely informed choices then you must know all about each of your options including atheism and Christianity. So many people should be getting a religious education as well as a scientific and worldly one. If people choose Christianity or atheism out of ignorance then they are making poor choices. However if I didn't know about each of my options I'd still choose Christianity because if I'm wrong then I'll lead a great life helping others with no rewards or consequences overall but if I'm right then I'm going to Heaven.

There really isn't a good reason to choose atheism whether you are informed or ignorant because you cheat yourself out of possible rewards and the real chance to fellowship with other great people that work together to make the world a better place.

Nobody "converts" to atheism. You make atheism sound like a religion of its own. All atheism means is you are without "theism" - the doctrine of a belief in a god or gods. Christians and Muslims are Monotheists - one god. The ancient Greeks were Polytheists - many gods. And let's not forget the Pantheists, my personal favorite. In other words, atheism means that you don't believe or have stopped believing in fairy tales. To answer your question, though, yes, education may help you think a little more logically. Nobody believes in Zeus anymore. Nobody believes the Romans were right about the gods they worshiped, or the Greeks and their gods. There is not one smidgen of proof that this god "du jour" exists. There was never any proof, nor can there be, that all those other gods existed. The Romans made them up, the Greeks made them up, the Egyptians made them up, the Sumerians made them up, etc., etc. "Nobody's right, if everybody's wrong." (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young).

Huh? There is no such thing as converting to Atheism...There is a change in thought process that leads individuals to ultimately question their faith/belief in a deity that hasn't been proven to exist. If you look at how much bloodshed has been shed in the name of the various religious sects (incl Christianity) it's really pretty easy to see why people are dropping their religions and seeking alternatives. Advise you to check out the uncommon denomination at WWW.UUA.ORG! PEACE!

I'd like to see some statistics for that.

People convert to Atheism as a result of education because of the predominance of Atheists as teachers and the fact that Christian teachers are prohibited from discussing their faith. Because of this, students are taught that God doesn't exist and that religion doesn't matter.

I don't see the "most" you speak of as far as converting to atheism...however, I do see a world turn to spirituality rather than organized dogma & strict doctrines.
I have also noticed that in the realms of those that call themselves atheists, "many" are actually agnostic...either way, though, it's still personal choices and not really of "business" for anyone other than the individual.

Honestly, I think the whole dominion theology crap is backfiring on them. A lot of people were willing to be marginal Christians until the nutters got hold of the White House and started the new crusades.

The other factor is the internet and forums like this, where people who have never even considered their religion might be BS are getting exposed to different perspectives.

a) Atheism is the default position;
b) Christianity requires a lot more of a person than atheism does;

The more education one receives, the more atheism is brain-washed into one.

BTW if you looked at the actual beliefs, you'll find that both Atheism and Christianity losing out to Agnosticism.

It relies upon on the rustic. In international locations going broke, Atheism is on the upward push. In international locations doing nicely, Christianity is on the upward push. further: there is not any such factor as an ex-Christian. it is not available. that's precisely like saying "it is an ex-apple tree". that's like saying "I used to stroll continuously, yet then sometime i ended.". those suggestions are genuine in straightforward terms in the top of a slave. somebody serving no longer something yet conceitedness. i like how Atheists hate the information. i might thumb it down and hate it too if i became into on the comparable chain of failure those fools stay to serve. REPENT!

Show the statistics or the link. I don't believe you.

Both Christianity and Islam are growing by leaps and bounds today. And the Atheists are limiting their childbirth level to zero or below. Whilst the "fundamentalists" and Roman Catholics are having big families that are growing up in their Faith.

because a conversion to atheism is a turning of the back on God.

turning back to him would mean that "you were wrong" and nobody want's to be wrong.

as far as education being a factor, it is because of the fact that you cannot teach religion in school, but you are allowed to teach "anti-religion".

if people only hear one side of the story, they cannot judge for themselves.
