Floss first.
A very good reason for flossing first is that

when you brush your teeth, tooth paste will get in between your teeth. Most good toothpastes have fluoride in them. Fluoride is really good for preventing decay. many people get decay in between their teeth. Getting fluoride between your teeth is good

Okay, first you floss. This will loosen up all the big stuff thats inbetween your teeth.

Next, you use mouthwash. The mouthwash will rinse out all of the stuff that you just flossed out of your teeth and give your mouth a swift cleansing.

Finally, you brush. Brushing will put the final touches on your masterpiece by polishing your teeth and cleansing them of any residue leftover from flossing.

Don't forget to rinse at the end!

You should floss after you brush, and use a mouthwash after that. And I think you are supposed to do this at least twice every day, not just during the week leading up to your next check-up!

You should floss after you brush as this will get the particles that the brushing was unable to. Mouthwash isn't really necessary but it does kill bacteria which can lead to decay and it also freshens your breath. It should be done last. Take care of your teeth. You only get one chance. I know. I'm getting a top denture in August. :-(
