Here in Utah we have a mexican food place that serves french fries abd they don't have mexi fries! Isn't that unusual?

I'm really into Mexican food (I live in a community that has a huge Mexican populace), and I know authentic from not so much so...I've never heard of mexi-fries unless you're referring to a deep fried batata or some sort of "nacho-like" dish; The Mexican restaurants around here don't serve french fries unless it happens to be a hamburger joint that may put chili and cheese on the french fries...

You will frequently find "papas fritas" on menus in restaurants throughout Mexico and Central America. There's nothing inauthentic about fried potatoes, almost anywhere you go.
