A link course is one that is designed with an area to hit the ball. A placement type course that allows the other areas to stay natural.

A links course is usually the sandy part near to the sea/ocean, its called links as besides to where a "fairway" should be there are sloppy hills and sandy parts that separates the fairways and the greens. That's why its called "Links" course. Which is the opposite of the American golf courses where a fairway is long and linked altogether up to the green and hole.

Links is an ocean side course with no trees, and very little hills. Usually very high wind speeds.
