Originaly Adam, and eve, were emmortal... there was no need for them to be concerned about Heaven... though it is most likely that they were aware of it... as God walked with them and talked to them all the time... personaly and directly...
When eve was tempted and Adam let her sin... they lost their immortality, and the easy life, and direct contact with God, and another way was provided for them to come to God.

You really think Adam is in Heaven right now? Better read up on the bible if you do as it does not say that anywhere in the bible. Says you will go to the grave, hades, hell and stay there till Jesus comes at the end of the world. Not like a dripping faucet as most preachers tell you but all at once. 1 Thess 4:16-17 The penalty for the sin was not done when Adam died so even if he did go later, he could not have gone then. Adam did return to the ground that he was taken from and is still in that ground.

"The Kingdom of heaven is at hand." I feel that means it has always been here and it is an achievable state of mind. Available right this moment when you are in right fellowship with God. I believe that Adam was in a heavenly state of mind before the fall and Jesus has made that state of mind available to us today. It is not about the circumstances of life but in spite of the circumstances of life.............Fellowship with God is Heaven and broken fellowship is hell.. It is only the realization that makes it a real state of mind. If you knew God existed and could not get into fellowship with Him that would be a certain hell, and the death that the bible talks about. On the other hand to be walking daily with the God of this Universe in all of His fullness, is pure heaven.

Jesus was actually the first one to tell people they would "Enter my Father's Kingdom".
Before Jesus, everyone died with sin (The ability to confess had no effect as God was not yet as forgiving as He now is). If you died in the time before Jesus and you were a good person, you would go to a part of Hell called Limbo in a special part of Limbo called the Limbus Paternum (Limbo of the Fathers). It was pretty much paradise. When Jesus died, He collected all the righteous people from this part of Limbo (Including Abraham, Isaac, and Moses) and opened heaven to everyone for the first time.
I promise this concept might seem strange, but it is official christian dogma. Ask any knowledgeable scholar about getting into heaven before Jesus's death.

When your parents punished you, was it forever?? The idea was that when Adam and Eve broke the rules, God changed the game. We can return to Eden (or Heaven), when we show also capable of respecting God's wishes in life.

Hmmm... i follow your logic, but do you know what it's like to have everything and then to have to leave it all behind and enter a world of violence and drama and work when all you coulda did was obey and stay in luxury??? Imagine too that these people lived beyond 100. Old, gray, and working the land. Very BIG punishment to me cause it's carried on into our generation man!

Adam lived in Heaven On Earth. We suffer for his decision. But it was inevitable. Adam wanted for nothing in Eden. He never would starve or be thirsty. Now there is poverty and starvation, droughts, famine, hurricanes, floods and all types of disasters we have to deal with. We have to fend for ourselves more and worry about so many things too numerous to count.

Thanks Sho-Nuf.
I've been reminding people that to go to Heaven is to sit at the Feet of God and sing his praises over and over again for eternity (whose idea of Heaven that is, I'll never know).
"one...more...time...Yes, Jesus loves me..."
Try imagine singing 100 billion bottles of beer on the wall and then starting all over when you get finished.
I'll make a note of your question, it's another one of those "what the..." questions that the Biblical scholars seemed to have overlooked. :-D

actually God talked with Adam before the fall, they were driven out of paradise, (who said they tilled the ground in paradise?) because they believed Satan instead of God. Satan called God a liar. And mankind cannot regain paradise, only if they believe that God sent His Son to redeem mankind of their sins. Have you not read about the person on the cross, who asked Christ for to remember him? And Christ answered. "verily I say unto you, today thou shalt be with me in paradise." Christ overcame death, and opened the gateway to heaven. Unless you let go of your unbelief, you wont be able to enter.
