"IF" you are a Christian you are born again. If you are born again you are a Christian. The two can not be separated. You have to be born again to be a Christian-there is no other way to become Christian. NOW, there are millions of people who say that they are Christian-but instead they are lost. These are the people who say they are Christian, but their actions say they are not. Look around, the world is full of them.

I agree with most of what you said. I do think Christian is a term that should define someone who believes in the Savior, but I also think that it needs to pertain to someone who fallows the commandments, not just says they believe in Christ. This is two seperate concepts, one I think most people have a problem accepting.
Faith isn't going to get us to heaven, it's what we do and the way we live our life that is going to get us there. Anything else is just a bonus!!

Faith is VITAL to salvation, as are a number of other things- baptism (conversation between Jesus & Nicodemus), behavior (James 2:17), etc.
I think that it's great that the group of Christians that call themselves "born again" have felt the influence of God's Holy Spirit.... but I think that they should make the conversion (change) complete-- show their faith through their works... walk the walk, don't just talk the talk.

It makes a difference wether you are talking about a person or a group. I agree that a Christian is defined by the Bible. However, when you are talking about a group of people and identifying different groups according to their specific dogma, you must make a distinction somehow.
One of Satan's most succesfull campaigns was the separtation of God's people by the separation of churches.
God bless.

Strictly speaking, I don't believe you will find a definition for the word "Christian" in the Bible. The word is hardly even mentioned. Therefore, any definition comes afterwards, and your choice of definition does not reflect the definition used by a large number of people who call themselves Christian.

thats the way i always saw it. i have people argue that i am not all the time. but i am very much a christian. i follow his teachings in the bible and know that he is my savior. without him in my life i would be nothing. i belong to the church of jesus christ of latter day saints, aka mormon.

Then why do some people who preach hatred, bigotry, discrimination and therefore violence against gay people call themselves 'christian?' They certainly aren't following the bible or their teachings. WWJD?
