You are not putting him in the car seat the wrong way as the others are telling you. Trust me i have 3 1/2 yr. old twins who have been magically getting out of their car seats since they were 1. And my husbands brother is a Police Officer and also volunteer fire dept. he and his buddies checked my car seat and the way my kids were strapped in it and i was doing everything right. Nothing worked as far as making the straps tighter or anything like that. I dont know how old your toddler is but when mine were about 2 i started trying to explain to them that if we were in an accident they could get hurt really bad if they didnt keep their arm straps on, i also would tell them that if a police man saw them that he would stop us and take mommy to jail ( i know, a little drastic, but it worked ) now, i will look in the rear view mirror and if one of them has their arm straps off i will mention the above and they will put them back on with no fights. Also sometimes if one takes the armstraps off the other one will tell her to put them back on so she wont get hurt. Hope this helps.

bring the car seat in the house and make a game of seating in it he will get used to it eventually. There is something else you can try but it is hard on you every single time he gets out of the seat stop the car and put him back in and shout at him

you have to tell him sternly, NO! then most of the time babys cry but just let them. after a while they wont have any energy to cry anymore. by that time you have already gotten him into the carseat. every time he tries to get out push him back in and stare at him with serious eyes. do this when you arent in a rush so you have time. after about the third time he wont get out of a carseat again. trust me on this, i have had to babysit 5 different cousins.

Get an Eddie Bauer carseat for toddlers. It's nearly impossible to escape one of those due to it's unique buckle system.

Yes, my daughter is also an escape artist. You must respond every single time he does this. Pull over as soon as possible and put him back in his seat. Be very firm. Before we drive away, I make my daughter look me in the eyes (important) while I tell her firmly that she MUST stay in her seat as we drive. The more consistant I am, the better she is about staying in her seat.

That is crazy i have to same problem with my 18 month old. If I yell at him he sit back down. Just use firm athurity. Don't try to reason with him/ her because that gives them the option. use the child proof lock and window locks because mine trys to get out the car while I drive so I lock everything he can open.

next time you go out tell him he can't go because he won't stay in his seat. make sure you are going someplace he really likes to go. and don't give in to crying. leave him at home, next time take him with you. if he gets out. go off several more times and leave him home. soon he will behave. all kids learn to get out of their seats.if he does it while your driving...stop the car.... re-buckle him. get a DVD player for the car...or have toys just for the car ride...

the buckle should NOT be popping out at all, unless he is pushing it and making it pop out. if he is slipping out, there is no way he is tightly enough in that car seat.. children need to be very tightly in there to be safe.

you need to get a new carseat and have a professional show you how to install it and how to properly fit your child into the seat!!!!

You might just have to get creative and tape the buckle so it can't pop open or something.
