My boyfriend and I have just recently started dating but before that we've seen each other for a couple of months. In the beginning he would always pay for me, when we go out to eat or watch a movie. But after making it official, most of the time he would ask me if I want to split the bill up. I can never say no so we've always ended up paying for what we ordered. What do you think I should do? I believe that one of the responsibilities as a boyfriend is to pay or at least offer to pay. I don't mind paying for him or even splitting it up once in awhile, but it has been happening a lot everytime we go out. I don't want to make this a big deal but it has been bothering me for a long time. Please give me some feedback or opinion.

my opinion is that you should support your wife and family not your girlfriend. women are considered equals to men right?

A relationship just like anything else is a coming together of two people. It is a compromise if you want to call it that. It has always been tradition that a man pays the bill, but in today's society the bill can be split. For example if you two go to dinner and a movie one pays for dinner the other pays for the movie, and the next time you swap it up. I know it may feel good to be paid for but you must consider both siede, you have money just like him, he still has to maintain for himself, so it would be hard to cover everything on a date and maintain himself, especially taking into consideration the price of gas. So it will be easier now and in the future to split the bill.

So do not make a big deal out of it. Pay for your share and keep it moving I think this is a waist of time and energy. You make your own money and you should spend your own money. Maybe he does not have the type of money that he used to have to pay for things and does not want to tell you and alarm you about it. I think honestly that you are being a bit selfish and a bit of a brat. At least he once did it and you know that he does not have a problem with doing it.

If its something small like dinner and a movie i think guys should pay for it. Once and a while its nice if you pay or just splitting the bill. but lately the whole thing that guys pay for everything is soon ending.

well depend how young you guys are..

if you are around 12-15 years old its ok to split it
if you are around 20-30 is better you find another boyfriend
if you are around 40-50 he need a job no money no honey

however I believe you guys are very young so money can be
a real problem be patience and give to him the time to finish the school and get a good job.. then you can start to spend his money..

I think instead of saying he should pay, I need to know if you make the same kind of money. If you're at the same financial level, or if you make more you should pay your way. If he makes much more, he should. The days of guys pay everything is over, sadly.
