yes, he would find that they both have a lot in common, the name Jesus in spanish for example, if your name is Jesus (He_sus) then they call you Chui... wich sounds a lot like Chewy. The beard is another example... of course Chewbacca's is longer... but would a lord and savior be prejudist??? Of course not, in fact... Chewbacca could have been the 13th apostole. No. And I'll tell you why. Because Jesus was sent to Earth to save mankind and ego-centric Christians wouldn't acknowledge the existence of other planets with Wookies.
However, if Wookies made it to Earth, Jesus would love him, because Jesus loves everything.
OH... AND... if you mean Jesus (hey-zoos) who used to mow my mom's lawn. Then he'd not only love the Wookie, but I'm pretty certain he'd LOOOOOOVE the Wookie, if you know what I mean. He always did look at our dog a little funny like.

Jesus would be friends with anyone.
He would especially be friends with Chewbacca because Chewbacca was involved in some illegal dealings.

You know, I don't think Chewbacca is an unclean beast. No hooves, so he can't have the wrong type. No shell. So, I see no problem with it. Would Jesus be friends with Boba Phett?

Chewy bit my dog. I would shake his hand warmly if it wasn't for that. He's such a great guy in all other respects, but why bite a poor defensless dog? I bet Jesus would be pissed of if a wookie bit his dog, Cerberus.

Chewbacca actually was in the apocraphal bible. They felt that his presence lent the bible to be viewed as more fictional so they ousted it.
