I am seeing my dentist today for a crown. Does the dentist have to numb my mouth to put on a temporary crown? What about the permanent one?

Depending on the tooth and if there is any deep decay, there may be a lot of drilling. In the office I work for, it is standard procedure to give a shot to numb you. You can request not to have it. I've had very few patients do this, but it can be done. I recommend letting them numb you up. Its more common for them not to numb you when you have the permanent one put on. Its a lot shorter of an appt and there shouldn't be any drilling then, unless its to adjust the bite of the crown. Hope this helps.

I just had a temporary crown put in 2 weeks ago. Yes you definitely should get numb unless of course you like pain. I just got the permanent crown put in today and no numbing medication was needed. Just the initial work for the temp should need numbing since the dentist is cleaning out decay or old amalgum etc. Good luck!

in case your the teeth has no longer been smooth with the non everlasting on then you honestly will probably no longer favor to get numb even as they eliminate that one and attempt the everlasting crown in. At that visit they'll eliminate the non everlasting crown and attempt interior the everlasting crown. they'll modify the bite on the crown even if that is necessary and they ought to also take an xray of the the teeth to verify the margins of the crown in good structure the the teeth acceptable. If each little thing seems good then they'll cement the crown on your the teeth and also you're done. This appointment will be alot swifter than prepping the the teeth. you should be superb!

You'd better hope he does, or it's going to hurt like h***. My husband won't even go to get his teeth cleaned without nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
