Speaking from my experience as a (former) religious person, I can say that religious people, the deeply religious kind, have to remind themselves constantly that they are right, or else doubt will creep into their minds. That doubt is sinful, you know.
Whenever I went to some church function, I'd see all the other people taking their worshipping and their singing and their prayer amazingly seriously, and I'd always be convinced that I was somehow less sincere, or that I was just playing along. I had to go through the motions to convince myself that I was legitimate.
It didn't occur to me until later that everyone else was doing the same thing. The only difference was that I found out (the hard way, in a long and somewhat heartbreaking story) that it was all a crock. Without a shock to my perspective like that, I might still be trying to convince myself.

I neither try to prove or disprove your point. I am a Christian and very happy with my life. I feel a comfort knowing in whom I believe. I have, on this site, read so many questions as to Why do Christians still believe in this fairy tale or What is the matter with these people that are Christians? Why do people want to believe in this myth? Are you following me. The questions are always on attack never given as a thought. My children will sometimes ask me Mom what should I do. My answer is always the same I can not tell you what to do. I am not you, I can just say what I would do if I was in your predicament. This is not to say it is the right answer for you but it would be the right answer for me. You have to make a decision and live with it. You have made your decision, so why bother asking. Also the question you ask is like saying all Satanic worshipers would wish to be Christians, Not in this lifetime baby. But in the next they may have a different opinion. I would like for you to do one thing. Read this site in its entirety.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheist I have read much of it. As a Christian I can not see where it tells me Atheism is the correct choice for me.

I guess your assuming lots of folks are going to know the last phrase there huh. Well he is not but thats your opinion. We arent saying or trying to prove deep down your wishing you were christians. What i for one say i wish you were. I dont want to see anyone lost but no one can force you to believe anything. I will tell you though ive had 2 experiences with "Atheists" when a family member was very sick and dying and suffering they prayed for her to have peace"i said why are you praying you dont believe in God or Jesus" or any divine things NO ANSWER. Second was similar. There child was missing a young teenager. "Prayed she would be found and come home" Its funny how when things are at there worst even Atheist call out to someone of a divine nature.

I dont think you guys want to be christians..but many of you DO think that whatever you believe is a fact so that serves you the right to mock others, however you can't even come up w/ an answer on how did your gases exist in the first place but you have the audacity to question where God came from.
I'm lost..most atheist believe in evolution and if that includes you, I dont find the BEAUTY in "knowing" you are absolutely NOTHING MORE THAN A MISTAKE and you have no purpose being here on Earth..where's the beauty?

Since the beginning of man, humans have searched for a greater meaning. People have always had a curiosity as to "what it all means" or "the meaning of life". Christians are followers who believe something based on what someone else's conclusion is about all of this. They have set up an organized system that teaches their religion to masses of people. Part of their belief is to spread the word, so that others may follow it too and that the religeon lives on through the generations. For whatever reason it works for them. They feel that their way of thinking and believing is the ONLY way, as do many other religions. Therefore, they will impose their beliefs upon others.

Aren't you trying to prove something here? Your own actions contradict your words.
But here's another question for you. Why are you, as an atheist, so intent on proving that deep down inside all the Christians wish they were atheist? You can't deny it-- if you weren't, you wouldn't be here, asking the questions that you are.

The process is known as propaganda, the same strategy politicians use. Ironic how nearly every single war was based on either religion or politics. The very same groups who try to convince everyone they are both right and righteous cause the most death and destruction They want us to join them....Yet some STILL fall for it.UGH!

Why are so intent on assuming something for an entire religion? We (Christians) have found the joy and purpose in our lives and want to share it with others, but if they don't want to hear it then there is nothing else we can do to change their minds. I'm sorry if someone has been harping on you, only you decide what you want to believe.

Hey I believe in Jesus but I don't believe in what you said.. thats pure BS. I do recognize that there are other beliefs in the world and maybe they're right.. But I'm pretty sure I am. Plus if you're atheist thats cool as long as you at least explore, spiritually, questions like how we got here and where do we go when we die.
Plus as long as you have morals too.

We don't think that you are Christians. We just believe that deep down you aren't 100% sure that there's no God. This is a big difference because even if you believe there is a God doesn't mean that you're a Christian.
