It seems pretty clear that Jesus understood from God that this was supposed to happen; Jesus even stopped his disciples from trying to help him as the Roman soldiers took him from the Garden of Gethsemane. I don't think anything could or should have happened any differently. (Or do you think this was some sort of test by God to see what people would do? If so, then what about the reaction of Jesus after he rose? He did not seem to blame anyone for not stopping the crucifixion. ) And what would have happened if the crucifixion HAD been stopped? Would Jesus then not have died for the sins of others? What would that do to Biblical prophecy?
How could one "stand it"? His mother and his closest followers did, perhaps because they understood, or at least believed that he did...

Honestly, none of us could have done what Jesus Did, he bore the weight of all our sins on top of that taking the physical punishment. The question of all questions is, what must it have been like to be made sin and die being God forsaken for the transgressions the world have commited. that just blows my mind.
God Bless

I would have led a rowdy drunken group to knock it down like a goal post. Then, get Jesus drunk so it wouldn't hurt so much. Then ask him how on earth he convinced people he was the son of god. Then we would have a big laugh because all these ignorant fools fell for his practical joke. I bet you he would smoke a fat joint too. He looks like a stoner.

I would have stood at a distance, stared at times, looked way at times, and cried. I might have approached more closely once or twice and spoken to Jesus, if I had been his friend back then.
It would be like our looking today at a car wreck--perhaps a car wreck with someone we know in it.

Just watching and experiencing the movie "The Passion" was too much for me, I really don't know if I could have stood it.

The truth is, it might seem harsh, wicked and irritating to us now, but I bet if we were there back then, it would have been absolutely normal so we would all have been a part of it.

If I were allowed to go there... with the knowledge I have now?
I would be singing songs of praise and thanksgiving.
As one of that day?.... trembling in fear

Do you mean when Jesus was on it or the thousands of other people who died on it during the roman empire?

I don't think Dionysis cares if you did not act on his behalf at his crucifiction. Nor Attis, nor Jesus.
