Go to some of the auctions around the country like the Keenland Ky. yearling sales or Saratoga NY.

I don't know all of the sales locations but one more bit of advice would be to have several hundred thousand dollars in your bank account.

I think you were trying to say damn as in very good but if you meant dam as in broodmare then you should be reading about good bloodlines and look for mares with succesfull bloodlines.

There are books with this type of information printed every year.

a 'claimer' is a horse that you can buy cheap before she has been proven.
that horse could have been 'claimed' for something like $20,000
and won something like a million $'s

dig deep - Keeneland, Saratoga or other yearling sales or horses in training sales. but remember at that age there's much luck to it...no guarantee they can run up to their pedigree
