Take two or three fingers, or a roller, and wrap the hair around it, loosely enough so that you can get the hair off in a loop - cant really explain - imagine that a section of hair is near your scalp and its curled to form a big "O"

Clamp the hair between the straighteners for 10 seconds.

For a real funky look thats fun, but i wouldnt wear out the house....wrap your hair around the metal bit on a pin tail comb, and hold the straighteners down on the comb, it gives a great effect!

If you use the straighteners as you would tongs, it should give a slightly square curl

The best results with straighteners are when you use those figure of eight things and wrap your hair around them. They are hard to get hold of though.
The only other way is with a pin or by holding the the top of a section of hair and twisting the straighteners round as you pull them through your hair.

you clamp the end of your hair in the iron, the twist round as you would with curling tongs. careful though GHD's can be pretty rough on your hair if your not careful!
