Mach 4 is 4 times the speed of sound. Sound travels at 720 miles per hour. So Mack 4 would be 2880 mph.

The speed of sound is one Mach or Mach 1. I believe that officially you'd have to consider two things: the medium through which the sound is travelling (sound's speed varies depending on the various media, such as air, water, solids, etc). I think it depends on the density of the air as well, so that Mach 1 at 50,000 feet is different from Mach 1 at 100 feet above sea level.
By the way, sound cannot travel through a vacuum. At the moment I do not remember exactly, but at sea level Mach 1 is somewhere in the 600-750 miles per hour area. When the speed of sound is exceeded, the result can be a sonic boom. Fighter airplanes can do this, as did the Concorde. I believe some rifles are capable of firing bullets that exceed the speed of sound (a.k.a. mach 1).
I know that some fighter airplanes can exceed Mach 3, at some altitudes with either afterburners and/or while in a dive, as well.
Some of the record attempts for ground vehicle land speed, such as the Blue Flame and Blue Bird (think those were the names) approached the speed of sound, I do not believe they exceeded it. I recally one supposedly reached about 625 mph at one point, which would be in the area.
Sorry to not be more exact, but sometimes I don't care to look up things again, and I didn't see an answer yet to your question. Mach 3 would be three times the speed of sound, given the same parlance and usage. Good luck to you.
So I believe that Mach 4 is ballpark somewhere around 2500 mph (perhaps higher) which is somewhere around 4000 kilometers per hour (if you prefer that set of units).

Mach is of course the speed of sound. Mach 1 is consider the actual speed of sound where Mach 2 is twice the speed of sound, etc. Altitude and temperature impact this speed as this is related to the density of the air. At Sea level breaking Mach 4 would be to travel at 3,040 MPH. If you were at 80,000 feet this would only take 2,640 MPH to break Mach 4 (only.. LOL). The space shuttle is still the fastest bird in the air at 17,300 MPH during re-entry where this is an official "atmosphere".

It is actually a relative number depending on the speed of the medium.
But At a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, Mach 1 is 1,225 km·h-1 (761.2 mph) in the atmosphere. The mach number is not a constant; it is temperature dependent.
But then mach would be 761.2 * 4 = 3,044.8 mph, classified as Supersonic:
* Subsonic: Ma < 1
* Sonic: Ma = 1
* Transonic: 0.8 < Ma < 1.2
* Supersonic: 1.2 < Ma < 5
* Hypersonic: Ma > 5

4 times the speed of sound. The speed of sound varies by temperature and humidity on a day with 30% humidity and approximately 65 degrees the speed of sound would be 768.2976 MPH, so mach 4 on that day would be 3,073.2 MPH

Just above Mach 3. It doesn't matter, very fast.
