Why do you believe that for a second, taking a stand against terrorism is wrong? Do you really think that we should just sit back and hope that the other countries follow our lead? Don't you think that makes us vulnerable to more attacks? These groups like Hezbollah and the Taliban want to kill ANYONE who is not muslim and ANYONE who is jewish or american. Just because you held a sign reading "STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ!" doesn't mean that your life will be spared when confronted by terrorists attempting to take control of our country. You care so much about innocent women and children being killed, but you have no consideration for the fact that those "innocent" people (excluding those under 13) would be more than happy to see you blow into five million pieces just because you're American! Yet, you still protest because our soldiers are dying. That's what happens in war! Its horrible yes, but contrary to what you may believe, that soldier who died, may have just saved your life!

For a clarification on Islam: when they speak of "unbelievers" in the Koran, they are not including Jews and Christians. Since the time of Muhammad, Jews and Christians were called God's favored people, The People of the Book. In the beginnings of Islam, no Muslim was allowed to harm or strike against any Jews or Christians. This practice only began with the Turkish invasion of Spain in the 11th Century. Every religion becomes corrupted over time. Christianity preaches non-violence, yet it led to the Crusades, the Inquisition, and was even a backbone for the KKK.

Iraq is not a country of terrorists, just as America is not a country of bigots. A person who is against war is not automatically unpatriotic. War is a horrible thing, although sometimes necessary. However, the war in Iraq was not necessary, just like the war in Vietnam was not necessary. There's a difference between being against the war in Iraq and supporting terrorists since terrorists come from all parts of the world. At one time, our very own Founding Fathers were called traitors and terrorists by the British. Now they are patriots. Don't forget that we also supported Osama bin Laden & Saddam Hussein when they were "freedom fighters" for their countries. Those people who are protesting in order to bring our troops home are doing so because they support the troops. No one held any such signs when we went to war against Japan or Germany because those were considered noble fights. The fact that Americans are divided over the bloodshed in the Middle East is a sign that perhaps this war was not the solution to our problems.

I am not anti-war or anti-military, by any means. But since when did America go from being a beacon of freedom to the "World Police"? We used to have faith in humanity; we used to welcome those who were oppressed by their own governments into our country with open arms. Now we close our borders to everyone and start wars in countries that never asked for our help or provided any real threat to us. WWIII will start soon. Honestly, is it worth it?

Is American superiority worth another World War?

I think that the majority of people in the world would agree that terrorism is bad and we should do all we can to stop it, and the groups that support terrorism. However Iraq had NOTHING to do with America being bombed on September 11th! What part of that don't you guys get? Now AMERICA has created a huge breeding ground fro terrorists in Iraq as well as increased sentiment of animosity toward Americans in the entire world!
Do you feel safer?

Fight against terrorism yes but what has Iraq have to do with it? Before we invaded Iraq the al queda hated them. They and the Taliban both hate Shites which Iraq is 75% and Iran completely. Remember the 9/11 hijackers were mostly Saudis and the money to finance them came from Dubai banks. We are fighting the wrong people.

See thats the whole point..you are brainwashed into believing that terrorists are are to get you! The reason that they hate us and anyone else is because of the F'd Up things we have done to them.....Dumb people think that they hate us cuz were free...That is the most rediculous BS ever told! They hate us because we build military bases on thier holy sites....they hate us because we back stab them and invade thier countries. They hate us because Our religion has persecuted them since the begginings of time....Try researching more information then just whats on FOX news...War is pointless from all aspects....what we need to do is Apologize and figure out how to make a future where we can all co exist. Starting a war only breeds more terrorism...and GUESS WHAT...THEY THINK WE ARE THE TERRORISTS!

As a very senior citizen, I am always sorry to see weary frustrated old politicians who are too ready and willing to dispatch the cream of the younger section of the population to fight their foreign wars. War used to be considered an extension of failed diplomacy, and was declared against countries, not ideas. And so at the conclusion of a war, there was generally some a representative of the enemy with whom to sit down and sign a peace treaty by which to end the state of war existing.
.
These days we seem to be too willing to declare phony wars at the drop of a hat, and then fail to win the wars we start. We started and failed to satisfactorily finish "The War on Poverty", and then "The War on Drugs" and now "The War on Terrorism". and in none of these examples did we have anybody with whom to eventually agree on a final settlement.

From the day we began to arm the Taliban - to fight the Russians in Afghanistan - we seem to have managed to de-stabilize the whole of the Middle East to an extent where we no longer have sufficient troops on the ground to conduct operations win the war. I hope that we shall not eventually have to bring back the draft and so compel the unwilling to sacrifice themselves to the nightmare dreams of old men.

FIrst of all, i believe that what you say is true. Nice work! As to those who have answered as anti-war advocates: though BinLaden attacked us, we went after Iraq. To you it may not make sense, but to me, it is logical. We believed Iraq to have WMDs, and Iraq is muslim. A competent military mind would believe (with this information in mind) that Iraq could supply terrorist groups with these weapons, and, to prevent mass bloodshed against really innocent people, would of course want to neutralize such a potential threat. Going after Osama would have limited effect, as the next leader would simply take his place. Iraq is now one less country with the ability to support fanatical terrorist groups.

There is no such thing as an anti-war movement. These people are marxists who are trying to prevent people from defending themselves against evil. They hope this will result in a genocide (which is pretty much the main goal of marxism everywhere). In the resulting chaos, they hope to take over.

Act accordingly.

And don't forget...

"Fight and slay the Unbelievers wherever ye find them. Seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war."
Qur'an, Sura 9:5

That means even if you are against the war they still want to kill you.

Also, I didn't see anywhere in that question that it said Saddam attacked us on 9/11. We know he didn't that isn't why we went to war there.

Al Qaeda didn't hate Iraq. Saddam offered bin Laden asylum in Iraq.

Theres a difference between fighting terrorism and fighting Saddam... who had no connections to Al qaeda... and if your so worried about people being opressed in Iraq why isn't the USA helping in Darfur... and why didn't they help in Rwanda...

Last time I checked Osama bin Laden attacked us, not Sadaam Hussein.

What's wrong with you that you believe he did?
