For the most part, every Dept has different "Slang" or acronyms for just about anything. If you keep listening, over time you'll be able to figure out what they mean when they are talking. Keep at it! it is something that really does take a while to pick up on. While the 10-codes are on the way out, A lot of Officers and Dispatchers will use the last two numbers of a 10 code to shorten a radio transmission. For an example, I'll tell someone to give me a "21" at my cell or Office. That's just a shorter way to communicate to someone else to call me by telephone at my cell number or Office number.

Police scanners are OK with me. Most criminals are to dumb to use them, but I can see where the police may have a problem with them.

legal as long as ur not traveling with them and going where the cops go on calls..that u can get in trouble for that but other than that they r pretty cool...
I listen to mine unless me hubby is on duty, cause i dont want to know what he doin while on the job!

what is the question. they come in many different sizes and you can get adaptors to be able to put them in your car. they are not legal to have in your car in all states so you might want to ask befor you start driving around with one. there are internet sights that will give you frequencies in your area.
