Because they have no faith in anything they can't see. It's sad.

The story is too far fetched to be real. It's like reading Harry Potter and saying there really is someone named Harry Potter and a platform 9 3/4 and a Hogwarts. I think that the character Jesus Christ in the bible was based off a teacher or person of the times that was heard told about spreading his message. I don't believe the rest of it.

Well i'm an evolutionist and i dont believe in god. But i respect why anyone else would. I believe in Jesus Christ, but not the way the bible portrays him.
I'm sure he was a good guy, but imagine if some guy just started saying he was the holy reincarnation of christ. People would be very skeptical and unacceptive. There is no proof to his existance but a couple of old documents written by a few old guys. And only one of those guys knew him.
Well this is the way i see it:
Evolutionist have proof without certainty.
Creationist have certainty without proof.

Lets see. If someone today told you that the reason they are pregnant despite the fact they have never had sex even with their husband, you would call them a adultress and a tramp. But, somehow someone makes up a story about someone saying just that and you create a religion that has consistently been the leading factor in massive hate campaigns and genocide on an umprecedented scale. I do believe in Jesus. Jesus Gonzalez, Jesus Medina, Jesus Sanchez. But Jesus Christ? Nope that is just a very popular swear word used when you stub your toe or someone extremely ignorant won't shut up (I.E. When confronted with a christian)

You know; I think Jesus lived some 2000 years back. I think he was a regular person with a great vision. A philosopher of his time. I think he had this vision that people would live a better life if they had a spiritual relationship to keep them together. Probably.
I do not think he is God or GOd's son. The story of the old testament with Moses and Abraham and Isak and Noah is just too - not believable. Inlogical. We know it is written and put together in about 300 a.C. This is a very complex time for creation of this specific religion. There was alot of discussion on what it should consist of. Very complex.
I think religion is made to control people. To make sure people acted morally and that they didnt do things that could break the power priests gained. Take a look around in European churches. The St Peter in Rome - it is 17 000 kilogrammes of gold in ceiling. No wonder people are poor. The priests said that if people payed money - their dead relatives could be praid for so that their new life in heaven would become better. Of course people payed. They payed instead of feeding their sick and poor children.
Phew. This story is endless. I think - if you want to know more about these things you better start study

Do you believe in Ahura Mazda? El? Khonvoum? Bathala? Shalom? Allah?
When did it become OK for one religion to decide it was the be all and end all of religions?
If religion is so set in stone, why are congregations always changing their rules to flow with the times? Does it not seem odd at all to any of you that the rules churches had 50 years ago are no longer the same? Especially when pertaining to women?
So many questions and not a logical reason from anyone.
And the question should not be "Why don't you believe in Jesus Christ?". It should be "Why don't you believe in God?"
The answer is quite simply because reasoning tells me to. Logic tells me to. My brain tells me to. Just as my brain once told me to ask all the same questions I stated earlier when I had the displeasure of being a part of religion.
A lot of religious people like to think that atheists have never had religion in their life. The truth is we more than likely have. Which is why we questioned it. Which is why we allowed our basic common sense to lead us to the conclusion that there is no God.

I think it's very likely that Jesus lived back in the days. What I don't believe is in the whole "divine" status attached to him.
You know, Minos existed and I don't believe he was the son of a god either. Do you think he was? There are historical records that indicates he existed and there are records that claim he was the son of a god. Is that plausible enough?
The same goes for Kukulkan, records indicate that it's very likely he actually existed. I don't think the whole "divine" status attached to him is true though.
The whole problem with divinity is that it's been claimed by different people and different cultures in different forms, the fact is there is no evidence of any divine entity as those mentioned in every culture on earth. It surprises that people who believe in, say, christiany, easily rejects other "divine" stories like those contained in the Vedas, Eddas, Odyssey, Popol Vuh and so on, but yet they are sure that their story is true, even if those who doesn't believe in that particular story look at it as a myth. It's common that those who believe in certain religion usually regard other religions as imperfect or even false. For atheists, they all have the same status, it's all mythology.
So, all I can say is, the "divine" status of Jesus is not only plausible, but there isn't any good evidence to prove it.

I don't really consider myself an atheist, however, I do not believe in Jesus Christ. And the reason I personally don't believe in him or god, is because I am one who needs to see physical evidence to trust something. But you may ask yourself this question:
"Wally, if you need to see physical evidence, then how can you believe in alien lifeforms somewhere out there in the dead of space."
That is an easy one to answer, look at yourself in the mirror. You see yourself standing there? Breathing, living, and possibly in need of a shower? That's why. Because we are here.
"But then Wally, can't that leave open the possibility that there was a special man way back in the day, who could have possibly been the son of god. Who could heal the sick and yada yada?"
No. People can't do it today, they couldn't do it then. You mean to tell me that after thousands and thousands of years, there was not one other person who could perform the feats that Jesus supposedly performed? Jesus didn't have a brother Hakeem who was sent by god to spread the message in 2000?
"Okay Wally, I can see where you're coming from, but does that mean you don't like Christians?"
Absolutely not. A person can believe whatever they like, as long as it makes you happy.

Its hard to believe anything you haven't seen, heard, smelt, or touched before. Frankly one should not believe in the existence of the Pyramids of Egypt if they have only seen them through a camera lens, and hence on their T.V. or in a book...but that's just absurd. Other than that, I myself do believe Jesus Christ did exist, however I don't believe he was anymore the son of God than any of us are. It's my belief that he was a very good person, no unlike Nelson Mandela, or Gandhi. He existed in a time when not much was known about our world, and thus he was held in high regards. The bible was created to document 'stories' about him that can neither be confirmed no denied. But in the end, what does it matter? Religion is a tool used to keep humans in good morality. Otherwise one would not have much fear in murdering a neighbor or cheating on their spouse. And religion, and so icons such as Jesus Christ are great ways to keep humans.....well human!

I will try to not be to long winded on this. I believe that Jesus the man could have lived. There have been many great men in history with great beliefes. John Kennedy, Malcom X, Martin Luthar king, John Lennon. The list goes on and on. For me it is the miracles and waht not that lack credibility and therefore are not believeable. For example, virgin birth, walking on water, turning water to wine, rising from the dead and leaving no body behind. Scientificly We now know these things to be impossible. There have been many tall tales in history . I feel these stories are no different. As for as the beliefs handed down the are great rules to live by. Hope that clears things up a bit.

Jesus Christ could have been alive back in the day, yes. I do not believe in any "God" though. God doesn't exist. He did not create this Universe. It's all Science. I don't believe in fictional stories told through the hundreds & hundreds of years. It's like believing in Santa Clause or the Tooth Fairy.
