That's not a question, it's an opinion statement.

Maybe it's because we've been under intolerant attacks for 2000 years.
Maybe because we're insulted in our intelligence, when you assume things without proof, and you want to make a world out of that.
Maybe because we still resent such niceties as he Inquisition, the Crusades, the Invasion of America in 1492, the Church's complicity in the Latin American dictatorships in the 20th century, the Church's complicity in the regimes by Franco, Hitler and Mussolini, the many priests who are sexually abusers protected by the church, instead of being expelled right away...
Maybe it's because you needn't be just either for or against god, but you can also be without god, especially if there is no god at all, which is still my theory, until you can PROVE me wrong. And it will take you much more than "Who else may have created the world?" to actually prove it. To prove something, you cannot just make questions that cannot be answered yet. The answer may be god, but it may as well be anything else for all we know.

no my friend that is not allways true. I am an atheist and I never lash out at another person when I answer questions. Not even when I am in a religious debate. For me it's all about being a kind and good person to everyone. It does suck that others can get so abusive just over a question. I think some people are insecure in thier belief systems. I have been treated the same way you are describing but by the christians.

I don't consider myself being disrespectful and if anyone feels I am I am available for contact. I consciously try not to be. I believe that everyone has the right to follow the belief system of their choice. I would not tell someone else they are wrong because I don't believe in their beliefs even if they told me I was wrong or that I am going to hell (which has occurred). I don't have any problem with individuals it's the theologies I don't like and don't believe in. However, I will still try to show the individual the respect I would like to have in return.

You can make a choice whether to believe in God or not, but whether you like it or not, we are all of God. There is nothing our actions or our belief or our upbringing or our circumstances can do to seperate us from what we are. And God has already declared the world righteous. He DID NOT ask for our choice to be a part of it. That is very unbiblical.

Or it could be due to the fact that, after wasting 10 minutes trying to decipher what you wrote, I realized that there really is no way to speak to sheep about logic and reasoning because at the end of the day the response will always be the same. "Because God said so."

There are times that we lose our temper, as we are utterly shocked and disgusted that another human being could be so ignorant of their own religion, and that they could be so brainwashed that they won't even critically analyze the nature of it.
An atheist will tell you WHY he doesn't believe in your religion. He will explain the facts that disprove it. Christians can't defend against this. They can only refuse to talk about the things that disprove it.
And this does in fact, make us angry... And any Christian who behaves in such a way deserves to be ridiculed.

Well, I would say you are generalizing. I think many of the discussions I have seen here involve many varieties of reactions- some upset, and some of the "respectfully disagree" kind.

I think most react that way because they know more about the bible from studying it and thinking than the people asking the questions think they do.

No, we just love to treat people right and be good people and not judge others. However, when faced with hate and oppressive people we do stand up for ourselves. And, the vast majority of devoutly religious people are spreading hate and oppression.

I think you have hit on a good part of the problem... that, and the fact that satan has done such a good job of decieve'n that many are absolutly convinced they are right... but the most violent, IMO, are the ones who have greatest doubt of their own pov.
