I think it's a good theory that the larger the army gets, and the bigger the industry, the more you need to do to use it. Problems at home are tough, problems abroad can be simplified to "good guys" and "terrorists". Really large missiles, great fighter pilots etc. are terrible at controlling gangs in the inner city. Basically, I think domestic problems are too hard for the military.
Anyway, something like 80-90% of the world's weapons are made in the U.S. (or at least were back when I wrote my thesis), and it's in America's economic interest that they keep being used.

Ok let me put it to you this way...We are like the Older Brother and all these countrys we help are like the little sisters being picked on by Evil School yard Bullys, So as any NORMAL Brother would do for his little "sis" you step in with a good dose of Whomp A** and then like a good bro, still, you help clean up afterwards!
You dont just come in and level everything only to shoot out of there like you are a Superhero in a comic book, the humane thing is to stay behind and let the victims get their wits and strength back all the while picking up the slack and in the end it will all pay off, not in money but in do the Greatest Good for the Greatest Number of People, money can't buy the Feeling of Contentment over your Actions.
Its just the right thing to do, we are not a Nation of Cowards, we are Do'ers, Shakers and Movers, remember that. And be glad you are not living anywhere else!

Our service men and women DO work here when they're not working in other countries. The problems we have here are miniscule compared to elsewhere. For example, if it was your fate to always be poor, would you rather be poor here or in the Sudan?
We have to do the work because the U.N. has failed in its mission to solve the problems of the world. They have opted, instead, to line their pockets with oil-for-food money and protect their own power, while ridiculing those who offer the world the technology and economic growth that will sustain the 6 billion and counting.
Of course, giving our soldiers a well earned vacation might scare the rest of the world into solving their own problems for a change. But, after 9/11, that seems unlikely. And we'd be ridiculed for that too.

Because we are the most powerful nation on the earth and we are a "Christian" nation, it is necessary that we help everyone else in the world. We believe that freedom is from the Creator and everyone deserves a chance to live in freedom. If we help others then the Lord will help us. That was how it used to be but anymore, it is a real question as to whether we are a Christian nation anymore as we have thrown God out of every aspect of our lives and then raised our children to believe that man can take care of himself just fine. When a nation has that mindset, God is going to let us go ahead and try it our way and see how it turns out.

Unfortunately, we are the world police. The U.N. is a joke, and nobody else has the military might to do the job.
For those that think we should not be the world police: imagine it was your neighborhood. If somebody is raping, and stealing, and killing people a few houses down, you would want to stop it. If the "authorities" don't do anything, then what do you do? Do you just let your neighbors be abused, and wait until it starts happening at your house before doing something about it? Or do you be proactive, and go take care of the problem yourself for the protection of everyone in the neighborhood?
