No! There is nothing you have to see or do. Do not go trying to see this or that. Let Paris take you like a lover. Stop at a cafe near a metro an have a glass of wine and watch the people go by. The human show coming and going. Slow down and enjoy a walk through a neighborhood. See unexpected flowers and beautiful ornamented buildings, windows of shops made for a museum. Try and see the Tour Eiffel at night after a late dinner. Take a batobus or a Parisian boat along the seine. Try to get to one musee and spend an hour.
Dont' go crazy running here and there.
Be satisified with doing one or two things well.
In the morning have croisants and coffee at a nearby place and listen and watch.
Eat something you never had before.
Visit a famous church.
Let the city love you.
Promise you will come back and let it love you some more.

Paris is beautiful...you'll have a wonderful time. Get a guide book (I recommend Rick Steves' Paris) and see if anything strikes your fancy.

You can get an introductory bus tour from Paris Vision or Cityrama...both offer commentary via headsets and are located across from Tuileries Garden on Rue de Rivoli.

The Eiffel Tower is a must...even if you don't go to the top. Notre Dame Cathedral is beautiful. The Louvre is huge and wonderful. The Rodin Museum is smaller and quite charming...esp the gardens. Stroll along the Seine River, browse the bouquinistes.

It really depends on what you would like to do, and what you're interested in. The Musee d'Orsay is great and has a room full of van Goghs...one of my personal favorites.

A nocturnal cruise on a bateaux-mouche ride on the Seine offers a different view of Paris.

Just take a look at a Paris guide book and make some notes of where you would like to visit while in Paris. Granted, you won't be able to see and do everything since you're there a short time. However, the bus tour does take you by many things...even though you don't get off the bus.

Have fun!

Of course there is always the touristy stuff in which Paris is famous for such as the Eiffel Tower as well as The Louvre and Arc D'Triumph as well as Notre Dame. Go get your character drawn at Monmontre, it will be an amazing souvenir. You need to escape a bit from the tourist traps in which every large city has to offer. Find a cafe off the beaten path and have come crepes, they are amazing. Do some shopping at lil boutiques... yes things can be expensive so look around. Check out the museums... There are so many things to do in Paris. Taking a ride down the Seine at night is always a romantic option. Take lots of pictures and have an amazing time, there is something about Paris that will always make you want to go back.

I love Paris and have been there many times. My thoughts on things to see, experience are:

1. Eat at L'Atlier Joel Robichon in St. Germain...
2. Visit the 4th Arondissont - Le Marais on Sunday where everything is open and there are lots of cafe's to people watch.
3. See Sacre Cour at night if you have transportation (but don't take the metro up there at night as the Pigalle is a little rough.) The view of the city from up there is AMAZING and lots of people sit on the steps and listen to music and enjoy.
4. Have the Chocolat Chaud (hot chocolate) at Cafe De Flore
5. Visit Fauchon on the Place du Madeleine for some great treats...
6. And pick the Orsay over the Lovre!!

Enjoy yourself and think like a local.....I just returned from Paris on Tuesday...and am missing it already!!

I am from Paris.

I won't tell you about the Effeil Tour, the Arc de Triomphe...you must see all that but i advise you to go to Montmartre and to the Sacré Coeur church on top of the hill where there's a wonderful view. Honestly it is wonderful it feels like you're in a village of southern France...but it's in Paris. And if you go with a boyfriend take the Bateau Mouche for a cruise on La Seine at night it is awesome...especially if you have the chance be close to the Eiffeil Tour when is sparkles...it's really nice...my girlfriend loved it....
