Uh... I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure you answered your own question.
I have a friend and his Papillon just died of cancer... she went through "not hungry" stages too...
Sorry about your pooch.

When cancer becomes advanced (as in humans), the cancer cells actually begin to take any nourishment from the body. The person or animal is nauseated and probably beyond caring much for food. Even if you could convince them to eat, at that point the food would be doing nothing more than feeding the cancer. It is heart wrenching to witness this in someone or something you care about. Realize that the same love that makes you want to hold on to them, has to be respectful enough to let go of them. An animal at this state is beginning to suffer. Its quality of life is about nil. Struggling to breath is proof to that. Make your peace, say your goodbyes, and let the vet help your pet on to the other side. It really is the humane thing to do. Purely out of love.

Most animals like to be go off whne something like this happens to prevent other incidents (such as a furry friend seeing it happen first hand & withdrawls because of depression after the passing of event occurs)
If it is hard to breath & won't eat.. it's suffering! Take it to the VET!!
Its probably tired of all the pain or its time for it to go off and die which it cannot do locked up in a home to satisfy the owner! Let it go die on it's own in peace or take it to the VET.. it is just suffering and there is aparrently nothing more you can do!
I am sorry! :0(

well you just pretty much answered your own question..
when a dog or anyone in that matter has cancer they aren't going to be eating. you should really get your dog to the vet if he/she is struggling to breathe. don't just let your dog lie there in pain.

Explains why he isn't eating. He can barely breathe as is. Your poor dog sounds like he has little to no quality of life left. I'd recommend putting your feelings aside, and doing what's best for this dog and take him/her to the vet for euthanization.

I'm so sorry. You're not going to want to hear it, but he's ready to go. When my dog had cancer, I was told by the vet that when he was ready to go he'd stop eating. Mine also was starting to have problems breathing. It's so painful for you right now.
I know how hard it is, my heart goes out to you.

God bless you, again, my heart is breaking for you.

I hate to say this, but if she has cancer and is having problems breathing then you need to take her in and put her out of her misery. I know this is hard to do, but why make her suffer. It sound like she doesn't have very good quality of life, and is suffering. I'm so sorry. Good luck.

Yes, it is a very hard and sad decision, but you should get your poor pooch put to sleep. He / she is going through alot of pain and misery, and especially with the breathing difficulty, needs some final rest... and peace.
It will be tough for you, but imagine your pup will not have to suffer anymore.

Refusing to eat is a sure sign that it is time to say goodbye if his cancer is at a level that is untreatable. That very well may be the reason he won't eat.
