I am a Christian. I try very hard not to offend anyone that believes differently from me. I may think they are wrong but I don't beat them up over it. Why do other beliefs think that it is all right to beat Christians up about what they believe. Most of us are not belligerent idiots. We believe what we believe and we care. Part of out belief system is that we share about salvation and God's holiness. Why are we expected to sit back not say what we believe but everybody else can spout their beliefs? It just strikes me as not right. Anybody got any ideas about this?

I think there are a myriad of reasons. I think some people are that way toward Christians based on a bad past experience with a person that called themselves Christian. For example, there are many people who do force their beliefs on other people instead of showing them through love and the life they live. Then I think there are those who can not stand for any view point but their own to be explored. They are the one crying so loud for tolerance but have none to share with others. Then I think there is a group of people who are under conviction over some of the things that Christians stand for. Some people are running so hard from God that they are trying to convince themselves that Christians are all wrong. But I would encourage you not to lose heart, Jesus himself was persecuted by the Pharisees and Sadducees who were supposed to be part of the church. This is the day and age we live. We will all be persecuted for His name's sake and it will get worse until he returns. The good thing is we've read the back of the Book and we win. :)

The Bible says you will be persecuted with Christ if you are a true follower! You must be doing something right. The Bible says you will be rewarded for your persecution. Stand firm-Christ will return from His church! Being on this yahoo answers may not be the best idea, but try to love and be encouraging! Remember where you were when the holy spirit called you. Christians and non-Christians alike know that if they acknowledge the word of God to be true, they have to be accountable to what it says. That means they have to walk away from their sin-and they don't want to.

I'm not a Christian, but I don't care if you offend me or not. I'm not going to bash you for simply stating your beliefs. You try to make those beliefs into state law, force them on me, or otherwise force them on the general public, and I'll bash you and throw you in the same category as Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps.

We don't live in a theocracy. You may believe what you wish, but so may I and everyone else.

I understand and appreciate that most Christians are not belligerent idiots. The problem is, the belligerent idiots are the loudest representatives of Christianity. It's like Katrina survivors; all you see in the media are the ones yelling for handouts, you don't see the rest of us who are quietly getting on with our lives. All Katrina survivors end up getting bashed because of the few who act like belligerent idiots.

It's only a problem when the other person judges another. Unfortunately, often times many Christians are quite judgmental. (Not all!) As a human race, we are all judgmental to a certain degree, but religion and faith is such a personal thing, that it is quite offensive to be told "You're wrong, I'm right, have fun in hell."

While many Christians do not prescribe to this philosophy, many others do. And it is similar to Islam in this sense: you remember the bad, not the good.

Christians, in america are constantly bashed for their beliefs for several reasons.

Reason number one is that they are in the majority, that makes them evil. Think evil as in big corporations.

Secondly, they have a set of beliefs CONTRARY to popular opinion, making them hypocrites, as the beleifs of the majority SHOULD BE popular opinion. Most christians dont follow christian teachings.

Thirdly, those who follow the teachings LEAST attempt to follow one in particular to make themselves feel moral, the great commission, those who beat their wives tell others about how their lives are better since they've met christ and try to convert them.

The problem isn't the beliefs, they are just and fair.
It's the fact that there are so many immoral people FAKING perfection.

christians arn't perfect, in fact, we're sinners. When people take the moral high ground and try to claim they are better, well, it makes people know that they arn't.

christians are bashed because they OFTEN judge others harsher than they judge themselves.

Average christian "You know your going to hell for that"
Good Christian "I love you man"

Well its as it says in the Bible. That it is a narrow path and that many will be despised for their beliefs. I think this is why Jesus asked "are you willing to leave all behind and follow me"and the prophets also stated that "He will despised in his own country"(Jesus) The world or non christians dont want to hear and accept the Christian beliefs because they arent all easy and fun. They dont want to hear they have sinned and need forgiveness. But what they dont realize is we are just as human and vunerable to sin the difference is we are saved and ask for forgiveness when we sin.And its granted to us.The world will always beat up on us because we make them look at themselves. And they dont like it Nor does Satan who is in the world fighting for his benefit.

Your beliefs are silly, and have been disproven. Rational people are going to point that out, and you're not going to like it when they do.

Sorry, but that's the truth. Your religion is offensive, intolerant, and aggressive. So if you're going to promote it, you had best be prepared to defend it. And I'll just go ahead and tell you, defending it is impossible. There is no evidence whatsoever to support the concept of Christianity. So the only thing you CAN do is fight about it. You can't rationally debate it.

Unfortunately, we non-believers get force fed your Christian beliefs on a daily basis through t.v., government, and so on; thus when you ask a question on here we tend to vent. Sorry for the anger of some.

The first post is an prime example of what you are talking about.

There will always be the unrighteous who hate the righteous...so get use to it - nothing has changed ..evil men hate the good..there will always be fools who the the righteous.

Jesus said, "be of good cheer, i have overcome the world".

He also said; "rejoice and be glad... for GREAT is your reward in heaven... "
So thank God when the persecution starts ...these fools are making you WEALTHY!
