No offense, I honestly don't know, but Yahoo! Answers may not be the best place to find this out. Try getting a professional to explain it for you, or even show you how to do it. You don't want to mess around with a .45 Rifle if you aren't 100% sure what you're doing, even with blanks you can get hurt. Better safe that sorry.

I doubt you will be able to load your own. You will have to have something to hold the charge in. Most things you could use will exit the barrel as a projectile. You would need some sort of specialty material that will burn away but not damage the barrel.

You're probably much better off purchasing them from a dealer. Here is the first link that came up when I searched for ".45 Long Colt Blanks".

You could use rubber bullets, but they still bounce and hurt..
I accidentally got shot with one we were shooting indoors at paper towel rolls...
Didnt go in me.. but made a whelp like girl tryin to suck start a harley.
I would say buy premade cartridges, or get rubber bullets...
wax... phhh...
rubber bullets cut paper towel rolls pretty nice...
What are you wanting the bullets for?
you could always put a "wad" at the end...
Some type of non meltable, or non gun/people harming wads..

Rubber bullets is the only way I know besides buying premade cases...I wouldnt trust anything else but a cotton wad...

I agree... yahoo inst the best way to learn about this...
You will need a bullet reloading machine with the correct size dye in it. If you have to ask.. then you probably shouldnt do it.
Reloading gun bullets isnt rocket science... I suspect that you havnt done any reloading before since you dont know how.
I dont know anyone that reloads straight blanks...and I know alot of gun happy bubbas in east texas. They just buy them.
I hear its cheaper and quicker for blanks...
I used to reload my own bullets, but I used my step dads machine, and never learned much more than basics.
I can load my own bullets of anysize with lead.
I wouldnt try anything else...
I cant see blowing my face off to save a little money.
.45 slugs arnt expensive. Its the cartridges.
If its JUST blanks... I dont see why a plain cotton wad wouldnt work... They dont have to fit tight.. just keep the powder from pouring out. You wouldnt want a blank tight anyways.. your not gonna hit anything with them... or you wouldnt use blanks...
but cotton wads wouldnt work good for film...
but DO scare the CRAP out of people...
I wouldnt ever do it, but these bubbas shoot blanks at each other for fun to see how fast they all react to the gun bein pulled out.
I keep waiting for one to get shot...
They do some homemade blanks...
I dunno how..
but I do know they use wads of some sorts...

Im no expert and dont know how they do it, or how safe they are.
Surely you can ask a local gun shop.
Any local gun shop should know how to do this, if they dont, never come back. They should also sell the equipment..
NEVER use pliers.. blanks or not.. It takes a special machine.. even with blanks...
if it doesnt take a machine... fine.. but I dont wanna be the guy that suggests something that gets your face blown off.
Ive never heard of anyone not using a machine though...
I figure if these bubbas and bikers say use the machine always, cause its safer and faster.... then i should use a machine.

That is what I was told.
I do know .45 does have blanks that can be gotten for them...
my stepdad has a colt .45 long pistol, and ive seen him use blanks in it.. dunno where he gottem though..

use a shell casing to punch out circles from cardboard.free uspo mailing boxes are great, insert 1-2 in case on top of powder, crimp or a drop of wax will hold in place.black powder makes biggest bang.
