We never speak of a communist child, a democrat child, a republican child, a liberal child, a conservative child, an atheist child. Let the kids choose their own religions and own political beliefs! Religion and politics are not in our genes.

In the situation your setting the abuse is not the label but the parents, most parents force their children into a belief system and don't let the child choose for themselves, thus most children turn out like their parents and do the same to their kids, thats religious indoctrination for you.

We speak of American child, Canadian child, Italian child, Chinese child, etc.

True, we don't hear the term "atheist child," but, it is a pretty good bet that atheists tell their children that they don't believe in God, & the reasons why.

Parents **SHOULD** raise their children in their own religion if it is worth a little more than just a pi$$-hole in the snow!!

Moreover, your question shows a little ignorance on your part concerning atheists & religion. There are some religions that a person can still follow even if he/she is an atheist.

Christianity is not one of them, & I doubt Islam or Bahaism is either, but, Judaism, Buddhism & Hinduism are religions that atheists can still follow.

Do kids choose their own religions when they become adults? Yes they do. Either they choose to remain in the religion they were raised in, or they convert. Much like a person might remain a citizen of the particular country that they were raised in or move. Nonetheless, until they are grown up & can decide on their own, they are the nationality and/or religion that their parents raise them in.

It's sheer ignorance! You're right...I never went around calling myself a Catholic Child when I was a kid. I believe that a child is a child. Period.

I don't have quite the answer you are looking for except to say that some people are just plain ignorant.

Yes, and lets let kids pick their own elementary school. And lets not teach kids anything, certainly not any values since they of course must discover this on their own.

(Yes, I'm being sarcastic.)

A label is only abusive only if that label will in fact abuse someone. Saying such an outrageous statement such as that says a lot about you and nothing about anyone else.

Umm. Your question is highly offensive. These "labels" mean quite simply a child raised in household of a particular faith. Labels are sometimes oppressive, but it is necessary to be able to describe people and situations when writing news stories.

no, but they are the way we are brought up. labels get a bad rap. there's nothing wrong them. they help us identify things. the people who scream the loudest about them usually fit them. people who are secure in who they are as a person don't care.

i am a White, Republican, Christian child, and i fit almost every label that goes with those titles. the one i don't fit, well, the people who know me know i don't fit them, and that 's good enough for me.

what have you been labelled that you think is so unfair?

we are all children, children of God. As we are made in his living image, armed with his powerful knowledge of both creation and destruction! Skin color, religion, politics, arms, economics, countries are but man-made brandings and labels... all junk!
God's knowledge should be use to create progress for us as a single human race, not fight over dying lands... that is our folly!

thank you!! i hate it when people use labels to identify others. each person on this earth was given the free will to choose....and children should be able to choose as they please.
