yes, it is bad for your hair and bad for your body in general. That is why you are not supposed to get them while you are pregnant. Because you are exposing yourself and the baby to harmful chemicals. Some of them are possibly carcinogenic.
Have you ever notcied that the majority of elderly black women wear wigs. Why do you think that is?

well, it will dammage it some because it is a chemical, and african american hair is usually fragile and prone to breakage. If you did decide to go au nautural it would give your hair a break, but if that is not an option, some opt for braids, although that can be so tight on your scalp that it is uncomfortable. I'd say get a good conditioner for african american hair. Some of my friends really like that stuff called motions. You can also do the cholesteral, mayonaise, or olive oil and avocado treatments. Check with the beauty supply store for good conditioner/ and repair products.

It depends on what kind of relaxers they get and how many. I know that I used to get a relaxer every month. It really depends on the person's hair.

I get my hair relaxed every 6 weeks too. You have to just get your ends clipped, too, so that it won't look crazy. I don't think children at the age of 5 need a perm, it isn't good for their hair. I got one at a young age, and my hair was falling out. Just do it every 2 months (8 weeks) and you should be okay. keep it moisturized, but not too greasy because it can clog your hair follicles, which can be bad... good luck!

the only time it's really bad is when the relaxer is overlapped too long. it should be left on the new growth only at first...make sure u condition it well and just continue to take care of ur hair

Why the heck did you get a relaxer at 5 and how old are you now?
Yes. Any time you put a chemical somewhere on something allowing it to change it's natural state it's bad. Make sure you get it done by someone competent, and make sure you take care of it, wash it, moisturize it as you should and you'll be okay.

No! you just have to keep them up. Or keep your hair straight because knappy hair is hard to comb or brush. Its more likely tio break off and keep it moisturized. You cant leave it in too long of course a great alternative is to get you hair pressed with a hot comb. but the thing with that is that you cant use any moisture in your hair or else it will get poofy faster.

well... i get my hair relaxed every 6 weeks and nothing has gone wrong with my hair. well look at it this way...when i get my hair relaxed, i get the sensitive relaxer, if i ever were to get regular, my hair would burn. so, its all about choosing the right one for you and your hair.
