My little girl took a bottle before bedtime up until she was 18months old. Although she used her sippy cup during the day starting @ 12 months, she still needed that bottle at night. The night before she turned 18 months old I did not offer her the bottle. Instead, we rocked quietly in her room and she fell asleep without it. She hasn't had a bottle since. Be patient, its still alittle early to take the bottle completely away. Taking the bottle should be done slowly in phases.

Been there done that and only just disposed of the bottle! My son is 4 years old... OK ... ok... i was kinda weak about it but i knew i was around 4 when i decided i was too old for one! It hasn't harmed his teeth at all he has regular dentist trips since getting his first tooth. the dentist says its nothing to worry about and said he'd be more concerned if he was still having a dummy after a year old as these are much more destructive to the childs teeth.

Seriously having spent 4 years doing it, i wish i'd been strong enough to wean him off the bottle before he could talk! Would have been much more simple! He now has a cup of milk before bedtime with a curly straw and we brush his teeth afterwards.. GOOD LUCK!

Give the child a bottle of water. My younger sister got put to bed with a bottle of koolaid and when she was two, she feel on the carpet right infront of me and her two front teeth fell out. The dentist said anything other than water is bad for the teeth; even milk. The sugars will sit against the babies teeth and rot them out.
If the kid is a year old try to break him from the bottle.

just TAKE AWAY THE BOTTLE. You are the parent, you need to be the strong one. Yes, you may have a few unpleasant nights, but going to bed with a bottle is a very bad habit- and it is a habit that will become increasingly hard to break if you do not put a stop to it right now.

I would ride it out. He'll sleep at some point. It may be stressful and heartbreaking at first, but he'll learn to live with it. You don't want him going to bed with a bottle when he's 13 *years* old.

It's not good for the child's teeth to go to sleep with a bottle. You'll have to wean him off it somehow.

Everyone is right. but if your feeling a little worried about all the crying...start to water down the milk...after a while your child is not going to want it any more.

For the situations in the nighttime whilst she is waking, we did controlled crying and it took 3 nights - you will locate stuff on the internet approximately it yet truthfully you will possibly leave her to cry for a jiffy and progressively enhance so as that she learns to in elementary terms pass lower back to sleep without drink of milk or you having to come again in continuously, which i'm valuable you will not choose to do whilst ur infant arrives. We did it as i grew to become into going lower back to artwork and it grew to become into not trouble-free, i might actually lie with tears in my eyes for the two minutes and so on in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it in elementary terms took 3 nights and she or he settled - greater perfect sleep for all. i'm keen on our daughter, she is a blessed petal so it felt like i grew to become into going against the grain in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it fairly is clever, Natalie and it does artwork. on the top of the day, it has to artwork for you yet all the very better of success to you and your loved ones!

Just take it away and let him cry it out. He doesn't understand that he'll be fine without it and once he sees that he doesn't need it every night he'll be fine. Just put him to bed without one and let him cry it out..he'll fall asleep and he'll be fine.
