depends. where i live, i have long, fine, straight hair too it runs me about $45 for just a trim unless i want to go to super cuts, which i don't.
after going there once and getting a trainee who put what looked like a car mat on my back so she could see the straight lines across, i'll never go to a place like that again! my hair is important enough to me that $45-50 is nothing.

I have two questions for you: where do you live and what kind of hair cut are you getting for it to be $50? That does seem like a lot just for the kind of hair cut that you want. Especially for just a couple of inches and get rid of split ends. To me it is too much, you need to compare prices with other places.

Please keep in mind how I am unaware of your financial situation...
When I was in 7th grade, I chose to get 11inches cut off my hair, which is long, straight, and fine.
I gave my hair to Locks of Love, and this only cost me about $10-$15.
In my opinion, $50 is WAY too much for a haircut. I suppose it depends on which area of the country you live in, seeing as Los Angeles carries higher prices than suburbs.
I guess what I'm trying to say is:
Think about which hairstyle you're looking at. If it is only a simple haircut to remove split ends, then by no means should it cost that much.
However, if you're looking at something more extravagant, such as layers, highlights, etc, $50 seems more reasonable.
I hope this helps you in your decision making!!

I pay $40 and I am 100% satisfied with the results. I know people who pay less than that and they are happy with what they get. You should shop around, try different salons before settling for the expensive price, especially if you're only getting a trim.
For long, straight hair, I suggest you ask for a basic cut with long layers all around. Also, you might want to ask for the front to be angled, or you could get long bangs if that is something that interests you.

It's the same trouble to cut a few inches than making the hair much shorter.
The price depends on the luxury of the place you are going, the time needed and the area you are living.
Specially consider the time - and perhaps you have an idea how to ask for less service and also pay less...?

Yes, I think so. I would say you can get a good cut betweek $22-$35. It really just depends on the stylist you can get a bad hair cut & pay alot of money. But I would stay away from Cost Cutters or places like that. It seems they screw up a very easy haircut. I would say try getting some long chunky layers, to give you texture.

A good cut is not measured in how many inches are cut off.nor is the price. A good cut is worth its weight in gold so what ever you pay for it is a great price.Ive paid more and gotten a bad hair cut ,Ive paid less and been very happy but the person I go to now charges $65. and I will go to him lol as long as I have hair. Ask someone who's hair is similar to yours,in texture and length, and who's hair cut you admire ,she will be flattered and tell you her hairdressers name. Goog luck

if ure going to some hotshot hair-stylist as opposed to a good/decent hairdresser, then that explains why ur pocket got shot.
Usually $20-30 including tips puts a big enuf smile across ur face. Make sure u tip well, unless ure not planning on going back. If u don't tip, prepare some prayers before u return to the untipped hairdresser, u'll be surprised how good memories they have. (anything less than $3 is considered cheapo)

I would usually avoid the salon types of places in favor of Supercuts or SamGoody because the hairstylists there cut so much hair that they're much more skilled than the salon hairstylists anyway so why pay much more to get the same or even worse haircut or in your case trim?
Just probe a few places and once you like a particular hairstylist just stick with him/her.

I pay $15 for my haircut and it's long and straight, I don't even let them wash it because then I look like a poodle when they blow dry my hair. They cut a few inches from my lentgh and relayer the front only. Your cut shouldn't be $50 that's way overpriced.
