No. A child's large t-shirt is close to an adult small and that's sort of squeezing it. It depends also on the cut of the t-shirts. Some t-shirts are close fitting and otthers are loose. You have to look at the style and cut of the fabric.

My daughter is 11 and can wear either a child XL or an adult Sm or a Youth M. A child's large is smaller than an adult small (or M).
