If you are looking for a quick tip, then practice, practice, practice. You should really practice your shots within 100 yards of the pin. You can't expect to become a good golfer when you don't practice and only play a couple of times per month.

If you are serious about becoming a better golfer, take lessons from a qualified golf instructor. They can look at your swing and help you fix problems, as well as teach you practice drills to keep your game sharp.

Work on the short game. You don't have to kill the ball on the drive. Most every hole can be played with a 7 iron off the tee. Hit 150 yards on a drive, 150 yards on second shot and wedge to the green. You're putting for par. Add in another 150 yard 3rd shot if a par 5 or subtract a 150 shot for par 3. Point is, work on accuracy of short game (especially putting) and you will do wonders. There's an old addage "Drive for show. Putt for dough."

putting and chipping are the most important things in golf. Chipping is a skill i would say take lessons and get pointers to help you chip. However putting is just practice if you do it enough you will get better. You will see how the ball is going to break better and your lines will be better then it is just a matter of how hard to hit it and that depends on how fast or slow the greens are. Good Luck with the golfing!

You can always save strokes on the short game. Count how many tee shots miss the fairway, how many time did you get up and down. How many 3 putts. MY blog roll has a lot of links to articles that can help you.
