The clay & monkeys God created are not the same monkeys & clay that have evolved into what we consider clay & monkeys today.
In those days, clay was more like bananas and monkeys were more like raccoons.
But, God got it all worked out when he flooded the earth with vanilla ice cream.
See? It all makes sense.

Atheist Christian? Is that like a monotheistic Wicca or a polytheistic Muslim?
Aside from the oxymorons your question is easy to answer, if you read genesis then you'll find that Adam was indeed supposedly made from clay but god made animals separately, and monkeys or apes are animals if we argue this case, therefore today's existence of clay and monkeys (or apes) does not preclude the creation theory, except that it's a load of twaddle anyway as it's an allegory and not FACT.
As for evolution, same case, it is exclusive of Genesis as it is a secular (scientific) theory not a faith based one. And as clay is composed of different minerals, squashed up rock (highly technical term that in geological circles) or whatever and is in no way considered to be alive; it has no connection whatsoever with monkeys (or apes) that have DNA, amino acids and all the other building blocks of life to be considered alive, in the scientific sense of the word. Therefore as the two are not even remotely connected, except they may share similar atoms or molecules, such as carbon, then clay and monkeys can never be used together in an argument to dismiss evolution as a theory!!!
Is that enough explanation? hope you find it useful, sorry if it's a bit round about but I am starting to feel an energising tiredness come over me...
BTW are you a Monty Python fan?

If I believe in Jesus but not god, am I an Atheist Christian?
Was there a Jesus (Christ)? Pretty sure there was.
Did he die on a cross? Most likely
Did he walk on water? I'll buy into that.
Was that some time in January? That's when I do it.
God didn't use all the clay and some monkeys didn't evolve. That leaves them both open for discussion.

An atheist Christian? What is that? How does one simultatiously believe in and not believe in God?
To the point you are making though. If Adam was made from clay, that can still be clay. We make things out of all kinds of materials, and the material still exits. That is not the same as evolving.

Dust<<<...dirt....clay...etc...are completely DIFFERENT forms of the same compound with a different chemistry....kinda' like a lion is different from a house cat....or a cheeta....or a panther....same 'line' different genetics....and the monkey has only one vital genetic differance from 'man' ...a difference also between chimp's and gorillas..etc....but a completely missing 'gene'.....And so GOD made 'them' according to 'thier' KIND.....similar but totally different...

nicely for the sake of this argument, "God" might have created the climate to make guy, and then molded them into sort. So he's making a sparkling element from something he already created.
