I'm not sure, but I have to wonder why this question appears in the Religion section. Is it because you are implying that religion is a major cause of fighting and killing?

If so, you are mistaken. The vast majority of the armed conflicts in world history have had nothing to do with religion.

What's more, the political regimes with the worst record of killing and human-rights abuses -- namely communist states -- did not behave as they did because of religion. In fact, they behaved as they did due to a LACK of religion. Communist states, typically, are officially atheist.

I think most of the times, it is not the people themselves, but their leaders. Especially when the leaders are holy men of that particular nation. Observe, if you will, Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, and others out there who have such influence over the people. People are like sheep (myself included), we follow where the Shepherd leads us.

There is only one reason and that is fear,Fear of elimination of their god and their religious beliefs leads to religious war between countries and fear of loosing land/wealth/power and culture leads to political war between countries. On personal level also it is fear that is the root cause of fighting among the people,It may be fear of loosing one's power/wealth/woman etc.
