In Sorrento Valley I'd pick Karl Strause, but sit outside. Mira Mesa I have a favorite restaurant who's name escapes me, but it's in a little mall on the right side if you're headed west and it's kind of a pub, but they have GREAT Irish food, Ah, but you might just love me because I found this website:
(I still like Karls)

Semi-quiet place... You want enough noise to keep your conversation private from other diners but not too much noise making conversation difficult.... When ordering choose itams that are easily chewed and swallowed quickly, that way your mouth is easily emptied so you. can carry on a streaming conversation... Make sure to choose items without small spice bits to get caught in your teeth... There is nothing like looking up and realizing your date has a green bit between his/her teeth. Also choose items with only mild spices..... If the date goes well you will taste sweeter for the after kiss.. If the date doesn't go well a non spicy meal will help keep your stomach more settled...
