Catholics do not worship Mary. They love her and revere her as the Holy Mother of God. Jesus also revered her as his mother and disciple.

When He did His first public miracle at the wedding at Caana it was at His mother's request. He was not yet ready to begin showing Himself as a miracle worker, but she had enough faith in His compassion for those in need, and in His love for her, that she did not take no for an answer. Mary was right and Jesus obeyed her request by turning the water into wine. If God has commanded us to honor our parents, how much more of a loving obedient son would He Himself be, since he is God and perfect in everything.

As far as there being statues of Mary in the churches. Just as the statues of Jesus are not Jesus himself, but rather they are reminders of Him prompting us to lift up our hearts to Him in prayer; so are the statues of Mary and the saints only there to remind us of their holy life to make us want also to emulate their ways and become closer to God. Just as when you have pictures of loved ones around you to remind you to think of them, so.are the statues there only to remind us to pray.

Catholics do not pray to Mary in the same way we pray to Jesus, but they ask for her intercession to please pray with us and go before her son Jesus and ask him to answer our prayer. It is not that he doesn't hear the prayer himself , but when his mother gets involved he is a true obedient son and acts promptly.

The Hail Mary is a scriptural prayer. The first part "Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with you" Is found in Luke's gospel and is the greeting that the Angel Gabriel gave Mary when he came to announce to her that God had chosen her to be the Mother of the Messiah.
The next part is "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus" This is the greeting that Elizabeth gave her when Mary went to her cousin who was with child to tend to her needs, even though she herself was pregnant with the Son of God. This is also found in Luke's gospel.
The last verse of the prayer is our own greeting to Mary in petition for her intercession: "Holy Mary" (she had to have been holy to be worthy of carrying God's own Son in her womb), "Mother of God" (because if she is the mother of Jesus then she is the mother of God), "Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death." No way can asking Mary to pray for us be an indication of worship" When we ask our Friends and relatives to pray for us we are not worshiping them.

Mary is our mother, too. Jesus said from the cross, "Man, behold your Mother, woman behold your son.". Jesus was asking John the beloved apostle who was standing with Mary at the foot of the cross to take Mary in as if she were his own mother and care for her, but Jesus was also saying that Mary will become the mother of his people. We as Catholics love Mary as a heavenly mother and we believe that she will always bring us to her Son Jesus who is our Lord and Savior. She.brought Jesus to us when she said yes to the angel and Jesus was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in her womb. At the wedding at Caana, Mary took pity on the servants who ran out of wine and were afraid to tell their master who might punish them, so she turned to her son Jesus and asked him to help, and he did.

When Mary appeared to the children at Fatima in 1917, and to Bernadette of Lourdes in 1865, and to the children at Medjugorgia, Yugoslavia in the 1980's and to many others throughout the centuries, her message has always been the same: Pray, repent, and trust in Jesus. Never has it been to bring attention to herself. She only begs her children to know how sad Jesus is because of the determination of men to keep sinning. She only wants them to love her son as much as she does and to accept the salvation He provided to them through His sacrificial death on the cross. If I were to try to persuade you to repent and accept Jesus, am I asking for worship? Of course not. So, neither is Mary.

I hope you can understand a little of our awesome mother in heaven whose only wish is that all of her children will come back to her awesome son who is God.

yeah, i'd be at a loss for words too, if i advance into you. And even as the others say "troll" i imagine of what they actually recommend is "poe". there is no longer to any extent further some thing difficult about it. Catholics are taught that Jesus is the "way the reality and the existence". I heard this optimal of situations transforming into up you may be proud. i'm very much stunned you probably did now no longer pay interest about it too upon getting been transforming into up "as a Catholic" And believe me, Catholics get emotional besides. it kind of feels dry and difficult at situations, continuously about duty and doing what's the major proper determination, yet i visit allow you comprehend this the major proper determination now what Catholics have that protestants have not were given: and that is the Holy Eucharist. there is no longer to any extent further some thing better very own, as rapidly as you comprehend what the words recommend, and pay activity to them, than Jesus being received into your body each Sunday (and also you'll bypass there on a commonplace foundation of the week in case you go with for), and comprehend-how that each little component in His existence, His Spirit, His way, is shared with you in this mystical journey that seems, on the exterior, to be now no longer some thing in any comprehend....an journey so unappreciated and undervalued, that as rapidly as you finally understand the severe modern you've been given, you'll fall flat on your face an weep with gratitude. which will end the confusion. The rosary isn't the priority. Works isn't an situation. what's major is Jesus, you and God. it is all. Protestants can now no longer furnish you that. Emotion isn't actuality. actuality is actuality. accurate that is actuality: Protestants does now no longer have a bible if Catholics had now no longer preserved it. there have been no protestants before the Reformation, there have been heretics. (incorrect doctrine) There aren't any recorded miracles interior the protestant church homes. The Catholic church thoroughly investigates each declare and understanding it. before the reformation or perhaps for an prolonged even as afterwards ALL CHRISTIANS believed interior the immaculate and sinless nature of the Blessed Virgin. And the devil is the Lord of misunderstanding.

You have heard wrong, then. You either heard that from a non-Catholic who holds misconceptions about Catholicism, or you heard it from a Catholic who knows his/her own faith very, very poorly.

We Catholics do not worship Mary in the slightest. We only worship God.

The Mass is the high point of Catholic worship. If we worshipped Mary, then she would be given lots of worship in the Mass, since it is the high point of our worship -- right?

But in fact, Mary is barely mentioned at all in the Mass. And never in a way that can be construed as worship.

Also, consider the highest Catholic form of devotion to Mary -- the Rosary.

If we worshipped Mary, then no doubt we would be required to say the Rosary regularly -- right?

But in truth, we are not. Though we are encouraged to say the Rosary, we are definitely not required to.

We would be required to say the Rosary if we worshipped Mary. But we're not, because we don't.

I hope that clears up a very, very, very common misconception about Catholicism.

Catholics do not worship Mary, we respect and honor her as a Holy entity because she was born without original sin in order to bear the Son of God. When we pray the Hail Mary we are merely asking Mary to pray for us because of her close proximity with The Father and The Son. I appreciate that you are willing to ask about what you are being told and not just pegging Catholics as bad. Catholics are Christians, the original Christians, and Catholicism is the church that the apostles started. Catholicism is the universal church and it is our desired that we are united as one body of Christ.

Catholics hold certain beliefs that are not found in the bible that protestants use. Worship of Mary, using Mary as a prayer "intercessor", prayer to the saints, thinking the pope is God's "emissary" on earth, etc.

Catholics have traditions that are man made....not God-made. That is where many of these practices come from.

Catholics do not worship Mary or the saints.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Episcopal Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

With love in Christ.

Catholics do not "worship" Mary. We acknowledge her as the Virgin Mother of Jesus who said Fiat (yes) to God's will. We pray to her so that she will intercede to God for us. Just like you would ask a friend to pray for you.

According to official Catholic doctrine, Mary is without sin and is a perpetual virgin, currently living in heaven with God.

Which would seem to make her superior to Jesus, since she is his mother.

And, if Jesus is God, Mary is God's mother.
