Yes, it is true. So what happened. More people began to be queer and thought they should have special rights. So society said oh no we can't say that such a large portion of our members are mentally disturbed fudge packers. And thus they took it out of the books. Does the roman empire ring a bell here.

Actually it was the greeks who were fudge packers, not the romans. Homosexuality was considered a mental illness because religion has prejudiced society against it. There is no clinical basis for considering it an illness - that is why it was taken off the books.

Yes, I did know.
And how funny it is that you suffer from a phobia which is considered a mental problem!
Many things used to be considered mental illness. Mental illness used to be considered a possession by demons too.
There are more homosexuals because there are more people.
Homosexuals don't want special rights they want equal rights.
Goes to show people will believe what they want to believe even if it is not true for others.

Well, actually Bush and all the little Bush leaguers still consider that it can be "cured".
More people didn't begin to be queer, more people just became honest about it.
To each his own, I don't care what anyone does in the bedroom, if I'm not there I'm not involved and it is none of my business.

All diseases, be they of the mind or body, are socially constructed against arbitrary norms.
Did you know the word HYSTERIA comes from a "medical condition" caused by a "free-floating womb", side effect being mental illness? Do you think that was a real illness too?
I hope I didn't use too many big words for your small mind...

No, what happened is that most people decided to stop their hateful, bigoted, discriminatory, and definitely un'christian' ways and look at scientific facts for a change.
How did you miss that bus?

OK if you are a homophobe, this answer is null and void!
1/10 people are homosexual (I am not one of them) so psychiatrists decided that is they do not have any other mental illnesses, they are not considered mentally ill. If they feel bad about being gay, it is a mental illness called egodystonic homosexuality.
