Well, Stalin did try to stage an intervention to get people off the Opiate of the Masses when Marx never did anything but sit around and whine about all of the junkies. He sent tons of people to rehab. You can see how well that worked out for him.

Besides, you only make it a suppliers market when you legislate against the demand. Mao Tse-Tung found that out when he decided Chiang Kai-Shek was a wuss and took over. The cartels weren't the least bit deterred.
