while trying to install the cd that came with the scanner, there is a point where the installation freezes, then an error message that says "another installation is already in progress" but there is no other installation going on! i have a compaq presario 2500 notebook with iexplorer 6, windows xp service pack2. anyone have a solution????

i already tried to install it by the control panel/hardware way but when i try to open the harwdare icon, another error message appears saying i cannot run two installations at the same time. i dont know why i get this message, even though the computer is just restarted and i have no other installations going on...

Do not use the cd. Go to hp's website and download the driver and then install it. In addition, go to start-->run-->type in msconfig, press enter-->go to the last tab(System) and look through the program listing. The programs that are checked are the ones that are loaded everytime you start your computer. Make sure that the scanner installation does not exist there. And Remember, The shorter this list, the faster your computer will start.

I think ur cd might be having some complaints. So try to install it using windows xp harware installation software. In control panel there is an option add hardware.use it to solve the problem. I guess everything will become ok by that
